Charlie Casserly resigns
Who didn't see this coming, I just figured it would "to spend more time with his family."

Casserly resigns as Texans GM

Posted: 16 minutes ago

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly resigned Wednesday, saying he was leaving on his own terms to pursue a job in the NFL's front office.

There was speculation Casserly would be fired in the wake of the Texans' 2-14 season and their controversial choice for the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.
"I have an interest in doing other things right now," he said. "This was not an easy decision, but it was a decision I felt I had to make at this point in time."

The Texans passed over Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and hometown favorite Vince Young to take defensive end Mario Williams with the top choice in last month's draft.

1. Didn't Really
I did not really see this coming. Many people say that when Dan Reeves came in that was their cue that Casserly was about to be out. For me I thought he should be fired in that I did not think he did a good job building the team, but before the draft I was not sure he would go. Do you think people in high levels at the Texans were upset about the NFL Draft? Do you think this was the last straw, or was he out the door before and they were just crazy enough to let a guy they planned to fire run their draft?

2. IF Dan Reeves planned their draft
I could account for the blundering this year. He made some legendary draft blunders here in Denver.

3. He quit a job before he got another
one. Stinkin' genius, this man is.

I hope the league doesn't hire him. He's the ultimate suckup and a living breathing example of the Peter Principle in action. Completely incompetent yet continues to get promoted due to his unswavering loyalty. Come to think of it, there's probably a place in the Bush Administration for him.

from back when he got coffee for Beathard while Bobby put together teams for Gibbs PRE-salary cap, back when the top teams went 3 deep in many spots.
