World News: GEORGE MASON UNIV. BEATS UNC IN NCAA
:wtf: you may be asking yourself. Well it’s real. The basketball gods are smiling down on GMU, a clean program with talented and poised players and one hell of a work ethic.

These guys love each other and they respect their coach (and vis a versa). CAA’s the next Big East, well not really but who cares.

WE BEAT WICHITA STATE EARLIER IN THE YEAR. YEHAAAAAA!!!!
Lets go burn some couches. Oh, wait that’s WVU.

Well, lets go play a massive multiplayer online role playing game!

GMU’s Tony Skinn comes of a 1 game benching to score 8 againt UNC

George Mason withstands early Heels run, pulls off another upset

March 19, 2006CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

DAYTON, Ohio -- Michigan State? Gone. Defending national champion North Carolina? Gone, too.

Any more questions about whether George Mason belongs in the NCAA Tournament?

The upstart Patriots turned Carolina a whole different shade of blue Sunday, knocking the third-seeded Tar Heels out with a 65-60 victory that set up a mid-major matchup in the round of 16.

3. We've been "down so long it seems like up."
A friend of mine has gone to every Patriots game for three years. He says there's a constant home crowd of about 3,000 people, aboiut 1000 of whom travel with the team. They all know each other and comiserate at the end of the year...but this is their piece of "the dream."

Fun to watch this stuff.

4. Skinns was very classy about it, the coach too. Great story.
Skinns has no real record of messing up but the blow down low that got him benched was on TV and it was quite blatant. Amazing stuff. No histrionics, just the right thing. I bet Laranaga was sweating this out...but maybe not. We don't have a really nasty alumni demanding that we winwinwin. Campus is 1/2 commuter, 1/2 residential...kind of braining in a computer nerd sort of way with some really terrific kids. They're taken by surprise themselves.

Georgetown-GMU in the Washington round...holy cow.
