3. ooh, they beat the Raptors
and Kobe, admitidly brilliant, threw up 81 points in a blowout of the Raptors. he still took 46 shots. At least this time he broke 50 they actually won.

8. Wilt's Game Is By Far Superior
He didn't have the advantage of the 3-point shot, which added 7 points to Kobe's total. Wilt also had a ton of rebounds in that game, Kobe only had 6 in this one.

It was an impressive display of ball-hogging and selfishness. Not to mention meanspiritedness, especially when the Lakers started to go up by 15, 17, 19 points with less than 4 minutes left.

12. if Jason Kidd put up 81 points
First, I'd be dead, my heart would have given out.

:)

Second, I would still say it was inferior to Wilt because Wilt's 100-point game was the single greatest individual accomplishment in team sports history.

I mean, the guy had the 100-point game, but he also had two or three 70-point games.

I'm not saying Kobe's feat wasn't impressive, but lets face it, the guy is a ball hog and the Raptors aren't exactly known for their great defense.

21. Wilt was a Ball Hog
I do not see how you can give credit to Wilt for having such a good game by scoring 100 points without the 3 point play and then criticize Kobe as being a ball hog for scoring 81 points. What do you think Wilt did to get 100 points, especially since there was not a three point play at that time? On that night and the other nights that Wilt scored 70 points he was hogging the ball.

I think both Kobe and Wilt performances were great and they should be either congraulated or criticized the same. They both did similar things and used similar tactics to do what they did.

13. How you do you score 7 points on 3 point shots?
Not being snarky -- just wondered if that was a typo. It's impossible to score 7 with 3 pointers.

14. Didn't watch the game
But maybe he was fouled during one of the 3 pointers therefore got to sank a free throw for the extra fourth point?

Just an assumption.

15. no, he made 7 three pointers
compared to Wilt's time, those would have been 14 points, now they are worth 21.

that's where the extra 7 comes in.

18. he hit 7 3-pointers
so that's 7 extra points, not 7 points on all his 3-pointers. :D

And won the most amazing string of Championships ever.

Wilt got points. Russell and the Celts got Championships.

20. If you're talking one-on-one, that's an urban legend
Chamberlain outscored and out-rebounded Russell head-to-head. But I think you're talking team, and if you surround Chamberlain with guys like Boston had in the '60s and a coach like Auerbach, those teams win 60-plus games per year and a boatload of championships too. Look no further than the '72 Lakers, who went 69-13 and set, I believe, six league records and beat the Knicks in five games for the championship. And don't forget the '67 'Sixers at 68-13 and the championship.
