Any Heisman predictions?
What I'm seeing is that it'll be either Bush or Young.

Personally, I'd vote for Matt Leinart. I'm not big on Big 12 teams this year, and if Texas is routed by USC (my prediction) then it's clear Young's abilities have been over-rated.

Also, I think USC could win without Bush against Texas or UCLA (their final 2 games) but they won't without Leinart.

Anyway, I guess the votes aren't due until after this week's games, so that SHOULD make a difference, although I gather a lot of votes have already been cast.

1. Reggie
I think he won it with the weaving runs vs. Fresno State. That would be 3 Heismans in 4 years for 'SC, joining Carson Palmer and Leinart.

I guess my old stomping grounds in lower level Heritage Hall are a bit more crowded than my mental images from the '80s. That's where they keep the Heismans, on midlevel podiums with glass cases. I used to practice putt between the trophies, while actually watching the Song Girls working on their routines just outside the front windows.

2. The media has anointed Bush
This is a most worthless award. Can anyone tell me who won the Heisman 5 years ago? 2 years ago? (Don't cheat). Leinart has better stats than he did last year but he has no chance because ESPN and ABC have decided it is Bush's turn to win.

3. 2 years ago
Was Jason White QB-Oklahoma.
He then went undrafted in this year's draft, and retired.

4. Further support for my point
Most Heieman winners are total failures in the NFL.

5. The Heisman people's argument is that the award is based
on who is the best in college ball, not who will do the best in the NFL. I don't buy it myself, but that's the argument.

6. 2000- Chris Wienke, I think
and it's not an award for professional capability, it is awarded to the most outstanding player in college that year. That person is Reggie Bush. no real question there.

Yes, Leinart has better stats this year, but Bush is even better.
