McCarthy had Packers fitted for Super Bowl rings day before Super Bowl
DALLAS -- Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy made the bold move of fitting his players for the championship rings one night before beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

McCarthy downplayed the move at his morning-after news conference on Monday, but the tactic was a big motivating agent for his players.

"I felt the measurement of the rings -– the timing of it would be special," McCarthy.

2. They were going to get NFC Champion rings in any case.
It's not like painting the world series logo on your field before you've won the AL championship (See Red Sox '03).
