The 2nd technical on Perkins and then the technical on RR stank out loud.

Orlando came ready to play and Howard had an outstanding game. But I'm still pissed.

1. I'm pissed, too. And on seeing the first technical again, that one
was a bad call, too. And if those technicals stand, it's 7 technicals on him which means he has to sit out the next game.

I'm really, really pissed. Sure Orlando played well, but then anybody would when the other team is hamstrung by the refs.

2. The NBA will be hard-pressed to let it stand...
..not hearing much support for that call from any sportswriters...we'll see if that has any sway.

5. You're right. But nothing will change the impact it had on the game last night.
I'm so pissed that I don't know how I can watch another game. I turned it off as soon as the second technical was handed out. You'd think ESPN would be pissed, too, because when the refereeing is that bad, they lose viewers.

3. Given the perception that some have of NBA referees already,
and the fact that such an obvious bad call would result in the suspension of a starting player for game 6, I don't see how the commish can back up his refs on this. They basically have to rescind at least one of the techs, though I don't think either was legit.

4. The NBA is fixed...just how much it's fixed is up for debate...
...gotta get at least six games in, gotta make more money for everyone.

7. I firmly believe it's all fixed, too. So why should I watch it?
I'm having a hard time finding a reason.

8. I'm not at that point yet...mainly because i don't care...if the Celtics had
already been eliminated, I'd be hoping they'd find a way so NO ONE won.

14. The NHL paved the way for Crosby last year. NBA favored Bird, Jordan and Johnson. nt

6. The refereeing has been terrible this whole post season. I don't
think I can be suckered into caring who wins and who loses anymore.

9. If Orlando wins, they should deserve to win. Unfairly taking Boston's center out of the game
helped Howard, no doubt.

The league can't let the suspension stand, though it's too late for last night, and Perkins did exactly what you are instructed to do if you get angry. And the original call stank.

That said, I can't help but think the league wants an LA-Boston final. But, yes, they probably want a six game series.

10. I've been questioning the early fouls given to Rondo, though.
In the last 2 games he's gotten into foul trouble early, and that really affected his game. He's not normally one to get into foul trouble so now I really doubt whether they DO want a Boston/LA series. The Rondo situation was enough to give Orlando a boost but the technicals on Perkins could easily destroy the team's morale - as it did last night - not to mention that he's their starting center and the only one who has a chance of stopping Howard.

I can see the NBA wanting more games. But that was overkill last night.

about it. Thanks for the thread. :hi:

13. I was going nuts. In the playoffs, referees should make errors of omission, not commission. nt
