My Prophecy: Patriots will win Lombardi Trophy
Edited on Sun Dec-27-09 09:15 PM by SpiralHawk
After today, crushing the Panthers while the Colts went down to defeat, I can see the PATHWAY clearly ahead.

I am saving already for a brand spanking new Patriots Super Bowl Championship T-shirt.

All we need to do is update the Roman Numerals on this baby, and we are good to go.

3. There could be worse scenarios,
like an Eagles Super Bowl win.

4. They can't be a team other teams will like drawing in the playoffs.
But unless their secondary magically improves a lot I don't see them going far at all.

5. Can't read too much into yesterday
The Jags are not a good team, and all the problems present in the Patriots losses to New Orleans and the Colts have not been solved. We have no secondary, and as Jones-Drew showed yesterday, our run defense is porous at best.

The Pats will make some noise, but I am not at all confident we will go far in the playoffs. If we rest everyone next week, which is all but certain, Shaub and the Texans will cut our secondary to ribbons. If we lose that game, which is likely, we will be the 4th seed and could very easily pull the Chargers in the first round. Nobody is beating the Chargers right now.

Crossing my fingers.

6. Slight correction
Colts and Chargers have first round byes.

The Patriots and Bengals will play one of these teams in the first round depending on what happens this weekend.
1-NY Jets 8-7 (Cincinnati)
2-Baltimore 8-7 (@Oakland)
Pittsburgh 8-7 (@Miami)
Denver 8-7 (Kansas City)
Jacksonville 7-8 (@Cleveland)

7. I'd rather they get the 4th seed so they face the Dolts in the second
round...I really think they can beat them, San Diego, not so sure. They looked really good yesterday, and had they held on and beaten Miami a few weeks back, I'd be more optimistic, as it makes me think yesterday was just a good game as opposed to a trend.

8. I put it this way in how they fared against Jacksonville
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 09:30 AM by JonLP24
Tom Brady nearly broke Kurt Warner's record for completion percentage in a game against Jacksonville completing 23 of 26. Kurt Warner set the record this year against.... wait for it.... Jacksonville by completing 24 of 26.

Jacksonville is a better then average offensive team so credit the Pats holding them to 7. However their secondary has massive holes so take it FWIW.

Everybody just knew they were going to win the SB and be the best team in history!!!111!!!
LOL-I love watching arrogant teams fail. Something tells me thats going to be very pleasurable to watch. Heck, I think the BENGALS could beat the Pats this year.
Defense wins championships and you don't have any sort of D...

You've got one of the most arrogant owners in all of football.... If you love to watch arrogance fail---you've chosen the right team.

11. FWIW

The players are NOT (except for Mr. Haynesworth perhaps)....I don't see them dancing around after sacks or TD's. Its the players that draw my IRE. Which is why I've hated Dallas for years, they always find the most egotistical players in the league. NE been that way for the last 7 years now.
In other words, I'll take Santana Moss over RANDY Moss anyday.

12. Seriously?
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 11:51 AM by JonLP24
edit: These comments were made based on before last night's game. Moss had 8 catches for 92 yards last night which significantly improved his numbers. Still Randy is the better choice.

I'll take the 1,OOO yards and 1O touchdown a season receiver in Randy Moss far more than Santana Moss.

Edit: I'll also add Santana in week 1 against NY was fighting Corey Webster so it's not like he is a saint.
