For years we in Pittsburgh booed him every time he came into town.

And we would hear national media question why we did that.

Well, now you all know.

1. How about letting some of us know that don't pay attention to
sports? How much of an asshole is he?

3. Submitted for your consideration:
Exhibit "A" - the dust up with the press the other day when he said he was retiring and that it was the media's fault even though it was because of his knee

Exhibit "B" - The steroid press conference in February.

Exhibit "C" - the way he has conducted himself since he left the Pirates - refusing to sign autographs, shunning the press and his own teammates.

Exhibit "D" - lying about not knowing he was taking steroids.

5. Thanks for the info.
I can't stand professionals that refuse to sign autographs.

2. Weenie whiner
I couldn't believe this guy - from today's Washington Post:

http://tinyurl.com/43lgr

In addition to being a paranoid little crybaby, he's a coward. I hope the hell he doesn't come back. Like McGwire and Sosa and others, he's a cheat, and I think that home run record ought to go right back to Roger Maris

4. I never followed Barry Bonds
much, only had heard how "troubled" he was.

He proved to me that he's on steroids, though. He said the media had now forced him to "jump off the bridge."

Most people are dead after jumping off the bridge. He only had to have a couple of knee surgeries. The steroids have really increased his bone density.

6. Giants fan here, with conflicted Bonds feeling.
Or rather: I agree it's disgraceful for a pro athlete to refuse to sign autographs, etc. And I agree that steroids are cheating, and the records should revert.

It's just that, having that bat in the line-up did help the team. Oh well, back to playing actual baseball now.

8. Why is it "disgraceful" for a pro athlete not to sign autographs?
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 07:50 PM by jakefrep
If I were in that postion, I wouldn't either. Not when the damn thing is going to end up on EBay 2 hours later.

Too many people aren't seeking autographs for the purpose of having and enjoying a collection anymore, they're out to make a fast buck. I feel very little sympathy for these individuals when they get stiffed by an athlete.

17. You'd be surprised
how many of those kids are just getting autographs because they are a "good investment."

As for autographs, yeah, they should sign them sometimes, but would you want to be pestered whenever you stpped outside to sign dozens of autographs? Somehow I don't think so.

15. Yeah...
but some people like me can't afford them but would love to have a wall of hall of famers' autographed baseballs. God that would rule all.

9. I have known that for a long time
Everything is either about race or the media hounding him...he is a chip off the old block, and apparantly he is raising his children to be the same way...no personal responsibility whatsoever.

13. I knew this (Bonds is an asshole) for years
The other day's interview just proved it even more.
What a fucking cry baby.
What little respect I had for Bonds is now gone.

Go take your millions of dollars, fancy cars, boats and cry me a river some where else.

16. I hope he retires...
His numbers are probably enough to get him in the Hall but the guy is such an arrogant jerk you at least want him to stay away from the records.
