Rockies is likely going to pass the Giants in the standings tonight
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 08:39 PM by JonLP24
They are already winning 5-0 in just the 3rd inning against the DBacks. The only time I do watch Dbacks games is when they are playing the Rockies which I'm thankful for. I checked the score board and I believe the Giants are down by 6 with 2 innings or less left. Rockies still have 6 more winnings to play but with their early lead they will probably win.

According to Yahoo
NL West
Los Angeles Dodgers 58 34 .630
San Francisco Giants 50 41 .549
Colorado Rockies 50 42 .543

So if the two games continue at the current pace Colorado should have 51 wins and SF will have 50. Still early too and both games can go another route but this is good news for me.

4. lol I'm sure Rockies fans care about the Rockies
However I do care about the Giants because obviously they play in the same division and a W-L record of any team in the NL West is a reason to care about the teams involved.

60. LOL The Rockies have a better road record then the Giants and plus played 1 more game on the road
then SF.
(27-23)Rockies road record
as opposed to 19-27 by San Francisco.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings

The Giants have played 9 home games vs the DBacks and Padres so far. The Rockies are going to be playing just their 8th home gave vs the Dbacks and Padres.

This argument isn't working for you.

69. Nope, it's losing 4-5 to San Diego, Pittsburgh and Atlanta
It's the fact that Frisco has only swept two opponents all year.

It's the fact that they've gotten swept more than they've done the sweeping. Twice by San Diego.

It's the fact that when the Frisco Chokers are in position to sweep a series they fall apart giving up 7 or more runs.

It's also the fact that outside of this board, and I've documented this today, many Giants fans see the team good for 75-79 wins this season. In case you need help with the math, there are 162 games in a season, that's a sub .500 record.

Oh, and it is also docmented that many Giants Fans see the first half of this season as "smoke and mirrors" just as I have written many times before. That is now also documented on this board.

Enjoy your due comuppance. You worked hard for it.

Chokers.

This is just regular baseball news that hey, the Rockies just might pass the Giants tonight. It is significant who may be the new NL leader in the wild card race. This is typical of any baseball news that is posted here. I see the Giants scoreboard posted here nearly every time but mostly after Giant's wins.

40. Uhh, St Louis won the WS
They didn't choke that year.

They actually got to game 7 of the NLCS with one pitcher left from their opening night roster. What the Mets pulled off in 06 was a miracle getting that far. If they were chokers they wouldn't have swept the Dodgers in the divisional series with a pitching staff made out of popsicle sticks.

That team ran out of gas.

38. A team with Character would not have gotten blown out 11-3
to the Atlanta Braves while they are all healthy and "leading the Wild Card".

A team with character can at least muster up the chutzpa to sweep a series when they have their foot to the throat of their opponent.

A team with character beats the teams they are supposed to beat.

Hance, the Midgets don't have any character and they are completely healthy; They are CHOKERS!!!!

And what they are doing right now is CHOKING!!!!

Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 09:01 PM by JonLP24
I've been a Rockies fan before the Dbacks were ever in existence, I'm not suddenly going to become a fan because they are close to where I live and become my #1 baseball team when I already have a #1 baseball team I root for. Plus my dad's side of the family live in Colorado so I do have some connection to the state. Besides if I was into band wagon jumping I'd be a Dbacks fan because they have more Championships. But don't get me wrong I happy danced like a fool when they beat the Yankees mostly because they beat the Yankees.

45. Bandwagon jumpers are famous for kicking sand in the face of other fans
when their team is down.

Real fans, that stick with their teams through thick and thin, don't really give two shits about the other guy. They are just happy as fuck that their team is winning.

That's why you and CBoy have this strange of obsession with knocking Marlins, Nats and Pirates fans. From a sports fans perspective that's really sick.

When my Mets or Islanders had successes in their past I didn't rub it into anyones face. I was just happy that they won. And when the Isles rise from the ashes again I'm just gonna be really happy that they won.

Same for the Mets. And they will win one these next few years (provided they dump and Minaya and Manuel).

46. You blow right past my post
and reply to madinmaryland and not only do you accuse me of being a bandwagon jumper you also accuse him/her of one too. Now if I was to become DBacks fan in 99 simply because they created a team that happens to be in the same county I live in wouldn't that by definition make me a bandwagon jumper in the first place?

I've liked the Rockies ever since I've became interested in sports which was about 1995, now I'm not going to suddenly root for the DBacks because they created a team in the same state I live in when I was a Rockies fan first. That would make me a bandwagon jumper to become a Rockies fan. I only clicked on your profile for this purpose but you should you leave the Giants and become a fan of a newly created baseball team in Centralia? Not that you live there but I believe Centralia is in Lewis County, WA which yourself indicated where you are.

It's nice being told as a Rockies fan I should root for the Dbacks because we are both in Arizona by a SF Giants fan who lives in Washington.

If so..fine. If not, it seems mighty suspicious that the year you cite,'95, just happens to be the year of the Rockies inaugural playoff run.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence..right?

50. Sort of
I was born in Ft Collins, Colorado but I grew up here as well as I spent many summers there. I just threw 95 out there it may have been 94 or 96 but somewhere around there I became a sports fan. I never did learn of any WS run until years later, I'm only 22 now so that would've made 8 or 9 so I really didn't understand the complexities of many sports such as rules, division structures, conferences, playoffs, etc. So whenever I visited my dad in the summer who lived and still lives in Colorado I watched a lot of Rockies games growing up and that is how I became a fan. Other then the Rockies all the teams I do root for are in Arizona. Out of the AFC I root for the Broncos but that is about it as far as teams outside of this state.

56. I wasn't going to bring it up
but since you've expressed interest, the Marlins are currently 29th in attendance, averaging an embarrassing 18,091 per game.

One thing that should concern you trumad, it's still relatively early in the season, but it would appear as if the 3 time reigning attendance loser Marlins are finding themselves in a real fight to retain that dubious honor. Oakland is currently 30th in attendance at 17,747 per..South Floridians need to step up, or down, and continue to showcase the apathy they've become famous for in order to assure a 4th consecutive championship.

57. Come on Upton---you're embarrassing yourself
You seem to be the smarter of your twin but you continue to mirror his exact same talking points. Doesn't that embarrass the shit out of you? You hitched your wagon to a guy who most likely ranks as one of the biggest douchebags this forum has ever seen. It's not just in the sports forum--- the guy is a douche in every forum.

Look dude--- I can understand you being passionate about your team---Bravo for that. But when you hopped onto this (sports)forum you immediately became Cboy4 lite--- I mean--- don't you notice that you two debate the same exact way with the same exact talking points.

Don't you look around and say---WOW-----these Motherfuckers can't stand us?

Reevaluate dude--- drop your little buddy--- and start gaining some fucking respect!

Douche

9. Sanchez pitched ok, but he can't get a win on the road.
And they have to do something to get some bats. They're near the bottom in too many offensive stats to go far unless they find a way to correct it. Last in OBP, 27th in slugging, 28th in on-base slugging. They got 2 great starters and a solid closer, and they've done great so far, but it's tough to rely on pitching only down the stretch. It puts a lot of pressure on the pitchers night after night. Plus, if they did make the WS the AL bats can wear down most starters no matter how good they are, but the Giants bats wouldn't be able to counter the AL pitching. Not having home field advantage doesn't help, because it's one more game with the DH.

42. Dodgers up 6-3 after two innings against the Deds
Manny has gone deep and Schmidt has rebounded form an awful first inning to retire the last 6 straight. Good times.:woohoo:
