Longoria out of All-Star game
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/state/content/gen/ap/BBO_All_Stars_Longoria_Out.html

Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria is out of the American League starting lineup for the All-Star game because of an infected right ring finger.

He is being replaced in the starting lineup for Tuesday night's game by Texas third baseman Michael Young, who will bat seventh.

Chone Figgins of the Anaheim Angels is taking Longoria's place on the AL roster.

Young is a six-time All-Star who will be making his first start. He is batting .308 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs this season.

1. Eww. At any rate, Tampa fans are not very sympathetic:

It just seems unbelievable how many problems this boy is having this season. Half the time, when he gets up to bat, he looks like he's on heavy drugs. He needs to toughen up!

He does seem to be a bit fragile for such a young player. Still, an enormous talent who will play in many an all-star game.

I'm tired of hearing about this guy. He needs to toughen up or find another profession. Get real..a finger infection??? What was he doing with his finger?

Baseball players are wussies! Sore necks, hurt fingers, blah blah blah. Fire all the baseball players and let hockey players take their jobs. They will never be down for a hurt finger! Longoria needs excuses for his lame play as of late.

C'mon people, if it was not the all star game, I am sure he would be playing. The All Star game is a joke and if a player has a mild injury, they should not be playing, they should be healing. I say cancel the joke of a game. It is stupid that it reflects who gets home field advantage for the World Series, yet they can't pitch Halladay the full 9 innings. It is a complete joke. Just like every other professional sports all star game.

Hockey sucks pbj1965, this is the deep south and it doesn't even belong in the "SUNSHINE" state. As for Longo's finger and you people trying to down grade, it is on his throwing hand and the last time I checked, hockey players don't grip the puck and throw it. As for cyngc, again it's on his throwing hand and what does it matter how he got it? Does he ask you how you get cuts on your hand? Shut your hole and know your role.

Longoria is experiencing the sophomore jinx. Usually, the jinx will affect the batting average. In this case, it's his health.
