Let's bitch about the women's selection committee, and their annual butt-
kiss placed firmly on Pat Summit's behind!

Actually, ain't gonna work this year--They have Purdue (probably) in the second round and even though Purdue has underachieved this year, they are much better than their record. On top of that, they'll have to get by OSU or Rutgers to get to the final four!

Ain't gonna happen!

1. Should the "Great Women's Programs" be given a pass?
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 04:44 PM by ProgressiveConn
UCONN & Tenn have done A LOT for Women's basketball. I'm not totally against them being given special treatment (temporarily) as a means of promoting women's athletics. Fifteen years ago the idea of a bunch of guys sitting around watching a woman's basketball game would have been a joke to nearly everyone. Now at least in Connecticut it is completely normal and seen as little different than watching the Men play.

UCONN got a weaker deal in the tourney than Tenn did. We need to go through two of the top five teams... Stanford I'm told is the best team in the country and they do hold the #1 overall ranking regardless of their 2 seed...

2. My gripe is that Tenn is always given a pass...UCONN never is...
...last year they were given a #2 seed, and the year before that, they were #1 in the polls, and had established an NCAA record for most wins, and still weren't #1 overall. Last year Tenn got the #1 overall, and only made it to the final due to really rotten reffing in theri favor.

A #3 seed is a slap in the face. There is a real bias against Geno.

3. Valid point
though I can't complain about harsh treatment against UCONN last year cause we both know the final result. =)

work again this year!

4. It's annoying
I guess I just can't see how the #1 team in the country, Stanford, doesn't get a #1. Stupid.

5. Yeah, that's terrible...only two losses, and teams with 5 losses get #1's!
Strange because even though Stanford, a PAC-10 team that should have gotten a #1, is snubbed by the women's committee, while Washington, another PAC-10 team, ranked #14, is vaulted to #1 by the men's selection committee.
