Lincecum now 10-2...will he be the NL starter?
The Giants' Tim Lincecum, after throwing 6 innings of no hit ball and extending his scoreless inning streak to 29 (third longest in Giants history) last night as part of an eventual 9-3 Giants win, now sports a 10-2 record with an ERA of 2.33. Anyone who knows the game considers him to be, if not the best, one of the top pitchers in all of baseball.

However, a few questions remain..will Phillies manager Charlie Manuel do what is right and name Tim as the NL starter? For that matter will he name Lincecum's teammate Pablo to the team as an injury replacement? Or will Manuel continue what has become a distressing pattern of snubbing the Giants' stars?

1. I'd love to see you post something without being a dick about it.

I was ready to discuss this until your last crap about Manuel. Sour grapes are very unbecoming you know. And because you insist on being a baby, talking to you seriously about the wonderful pitcher you guys have is a waste of time.

5. I think a case can be made
that Manuel snubbed his own team. I don't give a fuck about the Giants but he only picked one Phillie as a reserve and no pitchers. I expected him to take advantage of his post, even if it were to pick one other team member.

19. Francona said he was uncomfortable choosing players from the Sox when he coached the All Star game.
I bet a lot of coaches try to avoid the perception of a hometown bias, with the exception of Mike Milbury, who picked a few Bruins because he truly felt they deserved it. I agreed they deserved it, but there were others that did as well, and he should have picked them over his own players, imo. I just think it shows more class to recognize players from other teams that have performed so well.

24. I like
to think that the team that won the world series the year before may have a few good players on it the following year. He did pick Werth but that was due to an injury. I'm not suggesting that a manager of last year's world series champion should load up the all-star team with his players but ONE pick? (not counting Werth, who got picked by a fluke and who is certainly deserving) The NL East is gonna be interesting the second half of the season.

25. Why, that division is a disgrace. How isn't Philly up by 10 games on
everyone?

4. That was too bad he lost the no-hitter. But I'm glad it happened in the
7th instead of the 9th.

I'm pretty certain he'll have more than one by the time he's through!

6. I don't really care about who starts
or who gets picked for the all-star game or who wins what award. But I think Billingsley deserves the start more. Lincecum hasn't paid his dues yet. Billingsley has played in the playoffs and has paid his dues. If Lincecum knows what's good for him he'll leave the Giants as soon as he can and go find a team that has a chance at a WS ring.

9. If you don't care who starts
then why are you campaigning for Billingsley? Lets take a look at a few pertinent stats comparing Chad Billingley to Tim Lincecum:

IP

Lincecum: 127.2
Billingsley: 120.1

Lincecum: 10-2
Billingsley: 9-4

ERA

Lincecum: 2.33
Billingsley: 3.14

CG

Lincecum: 3
Billinsley: 0

SHO

Lincecum: 2
Billingsley: 0

SO

Lincecum: 149
Billingsley: 115

There's really no comparison between the two. I don't even know why you would bring Billingsley's name up in the same sentence as with Tim's...other than that you enjoy being humiliated.

21. I really don't care
I just really want to see how pissed you two would get if the Phillies' manager doesn't pick Lincecum to start, since you seem to take everything as an affront.

11. I hope he starts
what's amazing is the Mariners passed on Tim in the draft, despite the fact that Lincecum went to UW, in favor of Brandon Morrow..who now has a career record of 6-11 with an ERA over 4.00 and is injury prone to boot.
