Hey, Who Else Here Doesn't Give a Shit About the San Francisco Giants?
Edited on Wed Jul-08-09 09:53 PM by BulletproofLandshark
It seems like lately I've had to spend more time hiding threads than actually reading them. I mean, they're just some second-tier ball club with a couple of good pitchers. God damn, it's a shame football season can't drag on for this long.

3. When they actually win something for Frisco, then they will be worthy
of discussion!

4. You don't know much about baseball do you?
This year's Giants are anything but a "second-tier ball club"

NL Wild Card Standings

Giants.......... 46-38...-
Colorado........ 45-39...1.0
Milwaukee...... 43-40...2.5
Florida........... 44-42...3.0
Chi Cubs........ 41-41...4.0
Cincinnati....... 41-42...4.5
Houston......... 41-42...4.5
Atlanta.......... 41-43...5.0
NY Mets......... 40-43...5.5
Pittsburgh....... 38-47...8.5

Perhaps you better stick to football.

5. They're leading the wild-card race, not the division.
That clearly makes them a second-tier team.

7. Wrong again..not only are they leading the Wild Card
but they have the second best record in the entire NL. Better than the NL East leading Philles, better that the NL Central leading Cards... that hardly puts them in the second tier.

8. And all they had to do was play in the same division as Arizona and San Diego.
But do you know why they're a second-tier team? Because they haven't won a goddamn thing since the Eisenhower administration, that's why. The Cubs are the only reason their playoff futility isn't more celebrated. Even the Marlins got it done twice in the last 12 years, and they didn't need a 7-time MVP to do it either. They're also still a piss-poor road team, which isn't going to help them end the drought any time soon.

9. Certianly you're entitled to your opinion
but the numbers are on my side..

BTW, the Giants are more than just a "couple good pitchers"..the Giants staff leads all of MLB in ERA, shutouts, runs allowed, and strikeouts plus they are a close second in complete games, saves and opponents BA.

The Giants have the best pitching staff in MLB..

10. The wild card is the very definition of "second tier"
A second chance at the playoffs that didn't exist until not that long ago. Back before realignment and the creation of the wild card the Giants wouldn't have had much of a chance to make the playoffs this year.

11. If MLB hadn't adopted the division system in '69
the Giants would currently be resting in second place in the NL...which doesn't meet the definition of "second tier".

13. I care about the Giants, I'm a Rockies fan
They often do well so I do care about how they are doing because I want the Rockies to do better. There are some teams I don't care about but I wouldn't announce it to everyone in this forum and as well as announce the fact I'm hiding them. I'm sure if I did no one would care.
