I mean, don't get me wrong, if they want to help subsidize the board, more power to them, but I'd think there would be riper pastures to proselytze from than a place that almost uniformly opposes the policies and "legacy" of George Dubya Bush, whom the vast majority of Mormons voted for TWICE.
I clicked on the link in the ad, this is where it took me:
http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/ask-a-question/chat-live?src=Chat_Church_IM_Chat_300x250_10019_40180I was thinking about giving them my spam-trap e-mail address and asking their online missionaries a few questions. Namely, why it took the church clear until the 1960s to have its "revelation" about black people being equal to whites (better late than never, right?) and how we can expect to become gods ourselves after we die, if we simply believe (and tithe generously to the church, of course!) Of course, it won't be as fun as watching their heads explode in person when they get deep with the weirder details of their faith, but might at least make for an interesting evening.
Maybe some liberal Mormons (if there are such a thing) can enlighten me here? I know all of them didn't support Bush, that leaves those around Salt Lake City and other urban areas who still vote for Democrats on occasion. Can you tell me what your church is up to, why they're targeting DU? (Hopefully not to try to convert us into God-fearing Republicans...)
