eternal hellfire is a lie, the devil is the liar
The wicked die the second death in hellfire. If the wicked lived forever being tortured in hell, they would be immortal. But this is impossible, because the Bible says God "only hath immortality." 1 Timothy 6:16. When Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden of Eden, an angel was posted to guard the tree of life so that sinners would not eat of the tree and "live for ever." Genesis 3:22-24. The teaching that sinners are immortal in hell originated with Satan and is completely untrue. God prevented this when sin entered this earth by guarding the tree of life.

3. Interesting, but . . .
9Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand,

10he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

11"And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

Revelation 14.

Personally, I think it's all bullshit. But if you're going to make claims about what the Bible says, you need to look at all of it. Unless it's OK to pick and choose what you like.

4. Thanks for the rebuke.
"He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time." Nahum 1:9. "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." Isaiah 65:17. "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." Revelation 21:3, 4.

Answer: After hellfire goes out, God will create a new earth and restore it to His peoplewith all the beauties and glories of Eden before sin entered. The horrors of sin and the past will be forgotten. Pain, death, tragedy, woe, tears, sickness, disappointment, sorrow, and all sin will be banished forever.

Sin Will Not Rise Again
God promises that sin will never rise again. His people will be filled with perfect peace, love, joy, and contentment. Their lives of complete happiness will be far more glorious and thrilling than mere words could ever describe. The real tragedy of hell is in missing heaven. A person who fails to enter this magnificent kingdom has made the saddest choice of a lifetime.

7. Hmmm.
Well, if I have to go to hell because I'm gay, and Fred Phelps gets to enjoy heaven because he's not, I'm not sure I'm really missing out on that much.

8. no one will be in heaven because he feared hell.
People are saved because they love and obey Christ.

9. Love and Obey
What does that mean, really? The current fundamentalist strain seems to think that "love and obey" means latching on to any of a dozen popular "antiworldly" topics - being against abortion, anti gay marriage, prayer in school, religion in the courthouse, etc. I don't recall anyone talking about how we really need to pass a law to stop people from being prideful. In fact, attached to most SUVs I see driving around these days are 1) a Christian fish icthus, and 2) a Power of Pride bumper sticker. And yet, there are hundreds of verses condemning pride. Somewhere it seems Christianity has utterly lost its way.

I see it this way: Christians often say wrt homosexuality, "we love the sinner, but hate the sin." It's the act of same-sex sex that's evil. So, I suppose someday when I'm beyond even the liberation of Viagra, I will no longer be evil.

The prideful, however, have no such time limit. They'll be prideful to the day they are lowered to the worms. And they'll be a delightfully evil dish.
