Rogers church links Pa. couple to fraud attempt
Special to the Salem News

LISBON — A pastor at the Rogers Assembly of God said Monday the church was a victim of an attempt at fraud from a Pennsylvania couple, allegedly the same couple that was arrested in March after they reportedly attempted to solicit money from a New Waterford church.

A member of the church contacted the sheriff’s office regarding numerous requests made since November 2006, when a woman named Amy Nelson reportedly called the church and asked for $50 because she was being evicted.

The church said it then sent the money to a Leatha Broadus at a Farrell, Pa., address.

Later in the month, the sheriff’s report said, a woman named Anna Marie called and asked for $50 because she, too, was being evicted. She reportedly asked that the money be sent to the same Pennsylvania address.
