Farscape Star Joins SG-1
Browder joins cast; Anderson still in doubt.
December 16, 2004 - Well, here's some news that should make some of the more die-hard Farscape fans' heads explode – Farscape star Ben Browder is joining the cast of Sci Fi Channel's flagship series, Stargate: SG-1. The news had been rumored for a couple of weeks and was confirmed this week in a post on the Gateworld website by SG-1 producer, Joe Mallozzi.

Many Farscape fans complained that it was Sci Fi Channel's high dollar acquisition of SG-1 that led to Farscape's early demise. While this rumor has been proved to be false on a number of occasions, it still persists as a piece of fandom folklore.
With Browder's addition to the SG-1 cast, even more questions are surrounding the role of Brigadier General Jack O'Neil, played by television veteran Richard Dean Anderson. Anderson's involvement has become less and less over the past few seasons and while the series is partially produced by his production company, Anderson's regular appearance in season 9 seems to be in doubt. A number of sources have reported that Anderson has yet to sign a contract and may just be tired of working on the series. At one point, this could have put the entire series in jeopardy but audience polls have suggested that the series probably would survive if Anderson decided to move on or just make sporadic appearances.
Stargate: SG-1 runs Fridays on the Sci Fi Channel with new Season 8 episodes appearing on the schedule January 21st, 2005.
