A question for Battlestar Galactica Fans (Spoiler Alert)
We know who the 12 cylons are: the 6 different copies and the final five (Tigh, Sam, Chief, Roslyn's Assistant, and Ellen). However, I remember Deanna stating that there were the final 5 AND one "who cannot be named". I'm thinking there is a final 13th cylon. Since Starbuck has obviously lived before (she found her dead body on Earth), I'm thinking that this could be her. The idea of there being 13 cylons makes sense, because it makes more sense numerically with the show. I'm thinking that Starbuck could be a human/cylon hybrid. Ideas?

4. It refers to
not a cylon but a diety of some sort (maybe like count iblis in the original series) in the mythos.

http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/The_one_whose_name_cannot_be_spoken

and BTW there are 7 modern cylons not 6..;p and the final 5 for a total of 12.

10. I hope Kara doesn't end up being Iblis
Although thats a big theory because in the original BSG his demonic looking "body" was found in a wreckage.

5. Well, there seems to be a missing number among the 12.
That is the number 7. It is, so far, unaccounted for among the cylon models we've been introduced to. The list, as I've seen it, goes like this:

1. Cavil
2. Leoben
3. D'Anna
4. "Simon" (the doctor Kara Thrace met on cylon-occupied Caprica)
5. Aaron (we don't see him much, but he is one of the models currently with Cavil)
6. "Natalie" and various other Six models, including what I call Baltar's "Head Six"
7.?
8. Boomer/Sharon/Athena, etc.

Now the, "final five, in no particular order, since no numbers have been assigned to them in the show (so far):

9. Sam Anders
10. Tory Foster
11. Galen Tyrol
12. Saul Tigh
13. Ellen Tigh

If you look at it like this, there IS a missing number, because it doesn't make logical sense for just ONE of the final five to be included in the previous group as the missing #7. Seen this way, the total does equal 13. There are many theories out there about this. Some think the "7" may turn out to have been a flawed model, or a model that was "boxed" (like D'Anna) for one reason or another. OR it may be Kara Thrace/Starbuck. OR there may be a 13th (there are 13 colonies) that we have not yet been formally introduced to.

I tend to think that if there is a 13th cylon, it won't be Starbuck. I think that's just too easy, and the I don't think the writers will go there. I could be wrong, but that would just be not up to par with what we've seen so far from these writers. I think Kara Thrace is something wholly different.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER?***

Ron Moore has hinted in interviews that there IS a "God" in the BSG universe, that there is a spiritual element we have not yet seen. In the original series (which I didn't watch, so this is from what I've read), there were "Beings of Light," called Seraphs, that had an angelic quality to them. Personally, I think this may be what Kara/Starbuck turns out to be. There have been hints of this, from Leoben, who is the most "spiritual" of the cylons. On the Demetrius, he told her that she appeared to him as an angel surrounded by light (paraphrased), and in the recent premiere episode, he appeared to have come to some realization about Kara that scared him. He actually ran away from her when it was discovered that there were TWO bodies--one alive, one dead. If he knew her to be a cylon, then what would he fear? But if he realized in that moment that she is something totally different, something not human OR cylon, and something very powerful, he might be afraid.

Hope that helps some! :) All of the above is, of course, JMHO. ;)

6. RDM stated in one of his interviews/podcasts - SPOILER ALERT
that the final 5 don't have model numbers.

A really good article on them is here:

http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Humanoid_Cylon

Have to admit I wonder on the Starbuck thing too as well as the missing number 7. Hopefully some of those hanging threads will be resolved in the final few episodes. This upcomming episode with the return of Helen Tigh (as seen in the previews) apparantly knowing who she is, where she came from, and in possesion of knowledge the other final 5 don't have should be very interesting.

8. Yes, that's what I've read, too.
Thanks for the info attributing this (the final five having no model numbers) directly to RDM. That's helpful to know.

I think that a lot of this WILL be resolved for us in the final episodes to come. At least, I really really really HOPE so! But whatever isn't, I am certain will be included in the BSG movies to follow. ;) :)

11. There's only one movie
To be done and it's already been shot. It's around the time of the miniseries I believe. The sets have been struck at this point so it might be hard to do more later. They did say they had digitally captured all the sets so they couldn't just say never.

The prequel series Caprica has been greenlighted for a 20 episode run next year though. I hope they don't leave any of the main questions in the BSG series left to be answered in the prequel series though.

12. I've read that they were in negotiation for up to 3 movies.
Yes, the first one is a done deal. 'The Plan' is finished and ready to roll. In fact, it's supposed to be released on DVD before it airs on Sci-Fi--I heard April for the DVD release.

I don't know the status of the other 2 BSG films rumored to be in negotiation, though. They may still be negotiating, or they may have been scrapped (perhaps because of the economic crisis?).

Links to stories mentioning the 3 films: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/06/battlestar-ga-2.html and http://galacticasitrep.blogspot.com/2008/06/more-about-these-tv-movies.html

15. There's a Daniel Greystone in the Caprica series
Also they made quite a point of going over that Daniel's amniotic fluid had been tampered with, altering the DNA, creating Kara maybe instead of a Daniel?

17. Daniel
If somehow Daniel can be Starbuck's father, it would be cool. She does have artistic talent, like Daniel. Didn't she say her father was an artist?

My crazy, crazy, guess: "Daniel was too sensitive to survive" (paraphrasing). How cool would it be if, in order to survive, he arranged to disguise himself as the antithesis of that?

He's Doc Cottle in other words. The good doctor has always been around all the medical info of who is and isn't a Cylon. And maybe he practiced a little genetic art in helping the one Cylon/Human hybrid to get born. In the last episode, I can't remember when, there was a scene where he seemed to be avoiding eye contact. Frack, my memory is shot, I can't remember who it was with.

18. I think they may have Cottle end up being a big player somehow too
He's been just too iconic of a background character for them not to give him some big ending. I still want Dirk Benedict to show up. Or that foxy girl that played Cassiopeia at least heh.

16. Well, now we know who she was referring to (SPOILER)
It wasn't 5 models and 7 models, it was 5 models and 8. The 8th model was Daniel, all of whom were killed by Cavil.
