Filmmakers Log 01/26/09

Well things are going well. We have moved the principal shooting back to Oct so we have breathing space to address real issues, FX, preproduction etc. I am in a good mood, looks like in the interim as the script is sorted out we will have the opportunity to shoot all the roughs I wanted so when we get to the shoot nothing will be unknown. Part of the advantage of digital, we are using up nothing but hard drive space.

Messing with a few video logos ideas for the holding company. We have two companies that are partnering in a holding company. The two partnering companies are Iron Dragon LTD. (me and Kevin,) and ReelFlicks (Mary and Craig)

MiLK stands for Mary, Craig, Lancelot, Kevin, the company principals. Not exactly inspired but it works and everyone is happy.

On the side, between now and the shoot we have landed a documentary about the Soaring hobby. Those giant gliders that people fly around in. Should be fun to shoot, also a bunch of commericals and some music videos. Should be easy to manage since I also work and go to school full time (Working on my Nurse Practioner )

Back to the film. Well my biggest issue right now is to develop a really intense creature. Something truly Lovecraftian. Want it to be pretty distubing so it will have alot of Freundian overtones to it. Phallic appendages and such.

Was kind of funny, went to Walmart and bought ten boxes of condoms (taking them home and cutting them up to be the skin of part of the creature, something I highly recommend as a way to spend your Saturday night.. :P ) anyway this rather matronly cashier starts giving me the evil eye as I start to check out as box after box of condom lands on her check out. Since I have already been judged as guilty, I start to leer at her.. Thought I was gonna get tackled by security the way she glared back at me.

Course, considering where I am in New Mexico, this is about as close to a social life as I get. Single women seem to be a myth out here. No wonder I am going Freundian... :P

Anyway so with "The Eel" as my template I am starting to experient with various designs. Everything from animatronics to seeing what we could do with CGI. Its a geekout. Until next week!
