someone look at this info about missing absentee ballots
I don't know if this means anything or not but in regards to peoples absentee ballots not being delivered, coming back as undeliverable, arriving with the bar code blacked out and peoples whos ballots didnt count because they were told the address didnt match....
If the missing ballots were sent out with a wrong bar code or an unreadable bar code, they could bounce around the post office for quite awhile before finding their homes and many would be returned as nsn (no such number) or ank (attempted not known) If a good postal clerk figured it out, they would use a black marker to scratch out the barcode so that the postal machines would quit reading them and would default to reading the actual address.
Also if they happened to be sent bulk or non profit, then they would be thrown away. No one would waist much time trying to get misaddressed bulk or non profit mail delivered. It is thrown away.
So if anyone has any of those ballot envelopes that were delivered with any hand writing on them, let us know what it says so that we can try to see if the ballots were purposely misdirected.
Have no clue as to if this would mean anything or not, but thought i would post it to see.

1. I just received my 2nd FL Voter card but STILL NO Absentee Ballot!
And it was post-marked November 10th!

I posted this orginally in:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=52317&mesg_id=52561

(!!! This just in -- my mail -- which has coincidentally just delivered my Florida "Voter Registration ID Card" -- just in time!! BTW this is the second VRID card I've gotten, but I never did get my actual Absentee Ballot!! I voted with a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot, so who knows what actually happened to it ... )

And another thing on Florida that was startling was that a friend, also absentee, was trying to get the right info from his polling district and he was on the phone, literally for hours... He called the Dems vote-help-line and they suggested he say he was a Republican. He did when he called back and had everything taken care of in FIVE MINUTES -- I kid you not...

All the best,

FULL_METAL_HAT

This is my computer. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My computer is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it, as I must master my life. Without me my computer is useless. Without my computer, I am useless. I must fire my computer true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before God I swear this creed. My computer and myself are defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviours of my life. So be it .. . until there is no enemy ... but peace. Amen.

2. That happened to me...
I don't know if it's because of the bar code, or becaus being a registered democrat. I live in Paris, France and I came home 2 and a half months early to vote. I registered for an absentee ballot right away. After 30 days, I still hadn't received my absentee ballot. So, I called voter registration and they told me that I still had time to re-register. So, I did it a second time. Another 2 weeks went by and I didn't receive it. Again I called VR. They said that I didn't have time to get in another registration and that I should just wait. Meanwhile, I only had 2 weeks until I left the country. I called everyday and they said that they didn't know anything. My absentee ballot never arrived even after I returned to Paris. I still get my mail at my Mother's home, but it never came. Luckily, CA is Democrat. But I'm still pissed off about it. I've written to my congress woman and to Michael Moore (Love that man) to report my problem. I even sent a letter to the White House telling them that I didn't vote for that man and that my ballot was with held.

4. That's odd...
My partner and I registered absentee just two days before the Oct. 26th deadline, and we got our absentee ballots in the mail within 48 hrs. We live in the county of Santa Clara (N.Calif, San Jose area), so maybe that explains the difference.

I'd be interested to know what CA county you were dealing with, and whether that county is in a red part of CA, or blue.

5. It was San Diego
I didn't think we were red. And I never once thought that I was up against a conspiracy at the time. I was active in SD with the Kerry campaign, Democrats Unite, and MoveOn.Org. We were so active there, I never even considered that I might be fighting the powers that be. It was when I watched the election on TV here in France that I started to wonder about my ballot. After the election, I started making enquiries.

6. Ah, San Diego...

I've always heard (through press statements, etc.) that San Diego was, for California standards, a republican/conservative stronghold. It might explain our different experiences. I'm sorry they screwed you. You should report your experience to Bev Harris or the Sec. of State, Kevin Shelley (not that he has much power anymore, to do anything.)

8. I always thought we were pretty liberal there
until this damn war started. I got into more arguments about Bush and his stupidity than any other presidents I have memory of...
