They're still tweaking. It will be a rare day when there is complete consensus.

But the short answer to your question is that this ad venture provides revenue for the website.

3. That's not even close to as weird as some of the other ads I've seen...
...but it's Google's choices, not DU's. It's all about keywords and crap like that. I'd say Google still has a long way to go until ALL of their ads make sense per site.
