Hello folks. After a pretty long (for me) stretch of not posting here, I thought I'd drop a quick note to encapsulate the Portland Summit. I hope that other DUers (both Portland-based and DUers who "showed up" once again) who were fortunate to attend this conference will use this thread to comment. That includes you, autorank. I'm not trying to highjack your thread, and I really look forward to you posting your Scoop reflections of Days 2 and 3 of the conference. Scoop-NZ could not have been better represented and your first article was comprehensive. Again, I look forward to your next pieces.
As for me, I've been in Portland since Friday and have two more days to go. As a speaker and and participant, the Summit could not have been more inspiring or informative. In addition, the workshops were filled with "hands-on" practical suggestions and immediately implementable actions to protect your votes and save our democracy. The workshop I facilitated ("Think Patriotically, Act Locally -- and NOW") was mid-Saturday morning, and I was pleased by the turnout, the attentiveness, the discussion and the energy. I was also pleased to have people from at least seven states in that workshop. I'm bad at guessing numbers, but it was more than a double circle of folks.
The plenary sessions were also excellent, with the chance to hear from people I knew already from the "Nash-ional" conference (Marybeth, Kat, Kip, Judy, Clint, Brad, Warren, Ellen, Bob, John, etc.) from people I only knew by strong reputation (Greg and Matt) and from a whole slew of local Left Coast talent. And let me tell you folks, Ecotopia is well equipped with some serious and committed election reform talent, infused throughout their citizenry and public officials. We had the privilege of hearing from two US Congresspeople and a former state legislator who sent me home with a new way of bestowing rapid-fire empowerment.
All three days were not only cram-packed with good election reform "stuff", but also the chance to expand our circle of similarly-committed small "d" democrats and strengthen the inner circle of friends and colleagues developed over the past ten months. (God, how could it only have been that short a time since I/we-all fell down the rabbit hole.) One of the very nicest parts of this experience was being able to put faces and voices with the minds I have met through DU -- great to meet ya'll finally -- amaryllis, emlev, autorank and GuvWorld (and all of ya'll I met but didn't get your "handle".)
I'm sure glad we were all there, that all of you are here -- and that we all continue to become better armed (with facts, tactics and attitude) to fight election fraud and achieve election justice and reform. Thanks, Portland crew, for a most pleasant, welcoming and weighty Gathering. I was pleased to represent the Orange State at another Gathering of twenty-first century patriots. Let's keep the call going out and the pressure on -- these election thieves will rue the day. Peace out.
