HOT BOOKS ON THE (S)ELECTION OF 2004 !!!
For those who may not be aware, there are some good books that are out now or *coming soon* --specificially dealing with the selection of 2004 (with references to the selections of 2000-02). Hopefully these are the teaching and informing tools we've been waiting for. I'm starting to read them now with an eye to spreading them around as gifts to friends & family and recommending them to others.

As you get around to reading these books, please post your comments and opinions here. DUers who have been in the trenches on these issues from the outset will have insightful opinions I'm sure, and newbies should find them a helpful overview. Please add any titles I have left out. I look forward to reading what you guys think.

the libraries of the world, just for the title alone.

STEAL THIS VOTE: DIRTY ELECTIONS AND THE ROTTEN HISTORY OF DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA

We are the phoniest country on the planet. Our thief and liar, the so-called President, flies all over the world at a minimum of $11,000 dollars an hour (of tax-payer money) to export U.S. democracy. He goes to meetings and gives speeches demanding that other countries adopt democracy. He meets privately with leaders of other countries and blackmails them into mouthing words about democracy, and thousands upon thousands of beautiful people die as a result of U.S. democracy.

Democracy is not the problem here; the problem is when thieves, liars, and delusional peolple highjack the 'word', abuse it, and shove it down the throats of everyone all over the world. They use it to steal more and fund themselves so that they can totally control us. That is one of the delusions we suffer from. CEO's and their stockholders and their accounting and investment buddies cause the theft and lies that is anti-democratic. Military brass act on the theft and lies. Reverends demand the theft and lies to accomplish their religious agenda and become thieves and liars in the process.

Thanks for the news about the books.

2. most of these books
I've been looking at these books and unfortunately I find that most of them either just have one or two chapters on 2004, or if they focus primarily on 2004, they are mainly about Ohio. I'm looking for a book that is all about 2004 and focuses on the theft of the election, not primarily on Ohio, but on electronic voting fraud, DREs, etc,... from a national perspective. I haven't seen Freeman's book yet, but I'm going to check it out soon and if it looks good I'll offer it at the election justice shoppe:

thanks for posting!

3. thanks
Right --we desperately need a comprehensive book about the 2004 election that also deals in depth with the electronic voting issues...as u say, from a national perspective. And hopefully that will be forthcoming. Most likely one of the groups that is currently compiling info in that area will put out a comprehensive compilation that will be used by activists and voting groups. But you'd still need a book that could process all that technical stuff into a more digestible format for the average voter. Part of our problem in getting the public to REALLY understand the issues of electronic voting is that it's so technical and deliberately kept inaccessible.

I'm hoping these books that have just come out are a start though--helpful in informing the unaware public, esp the public that would rather read a book than spend hours researching on the net. I'm seeing them as useful tools, jumping off points for discussion. There is such a massive amount of information, constantly unfolding. The net is of course the best resource for activists and researchers, but activists need tools to help sell the message to the general public. Books can help overcome the fact that the MSM does not reach them on this subject.

5. Disagree. Steal this Vote goes way back and forward
Steal This Vote by Andrew Gumbel is much more than about the 2004 election. Much, much more.

In fact, I don't think you could have read this book and posted this.

It doesn't even get to 2004 until Chapter 13 of 15 chapters total.

you are correct I did not read that book yet, however that is my point. I am not looking for a book that covers the history of election theft and doesn't get to 2004 until the late chapters. I am looking for a book that focuses primarily on 2004, but not just Ohio. I want a book that explains how electronic voting machines were used to steal the election of 2004, without a long history of what was done in other elections, and without undue focus on Ohio.
