Well now, he's learned his first Australian drinking song!

A college-age relative of mine is living/working in Newcastle this summer (your winter) as part of his studies. He has now learned his first Australian drinking song:

Here's to (insert name), s/he's true blue
S/he's a piss-pot through and through
S/he's a bastard, so they say
Tried to go to heaven, but s/he went the other way
Drink it down, down, down

He gets to surf before work nearly every morning, has visited Sydney/attended a concert at the Opera House, attended "socceroo" (?spelling) parties, went to Australian BBQ's, spent a weekend at Terrigal Beach. got to play ultimate frisbee with some guys from the Aussie national team, and is having a damn blast in your country.

I'm sure he'll learn some more Aussie songs before he's done. He is loving your country and I'm very envious of his adventures down under. Someday, when my kids get a bit older, my husband and I will definitely take the time to visit your country.

Australia is just plain cool!

Great song! Get one of the local drongos to sing it for you.

I also like Eagle Rock, but it's not really a drinking song, just a good song to sing while drunk.
