HOT DAMN! Feds reviewing Kinder Morgan deal!
A federal review of the proposed buyout of Canadian gas utility Terasen
by a U-S company is now underway.

Industry minister David Emerson's Ottawa office confirms the review in a
news release. The release notes that acquisitions reviewed under the
'Investment Canada Act' are approved only when they demonstrate a net
benefit to Canada.

U-S-based Kinder ('KINN-DER')-Morgan wants to buy Terasen's Canadian
companies. The proposed buyout has prompted signficant negative reaction
in B.C.

Emerson, who is a former Terasen director, says he's recusing himself
from the ministerial review of the file. He has passed that
responsibility over to Intergovernmental Affairs minister Lucienne
Robillard.

1. Wow! That is excellent news!
I know you have been concerned over this and have kept us informed and it is much appreciated!

I am very glad it didn't just get slipped in under cover as it looked like it might, thanks to a few reporters who didn't let it die and kept at it!

A leading Canadian author wants her name removed from a plaque on the Writer's Walk at the Vancouver Public Library.

P.K. Page is an award-winning author of dozens of books including poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Last year she was honored with the Terasen Lifetime Achievement Award, given to an established B.C. writer every year.

The award comes with a plaque in Library Square and a $5,000 cash prize. But since the sale of Terasen Gas, Page wants nothing to do with the company.

"I think we're selling our birthright. We're so laid back and naive as a country. I mean if we were in Bolivia or somewhere, I think people might be excited about this," Page said.

With an election coming up the politicians might listen to voters.

3. Thanks for the news, HEyHEY.
All I hear on the news lately is the Jim/James Green Vancouver election aftermath.
