Watching Canada Day stuff from Parliament Hill...and wondering..
If it's just my imagination...or do we not have some more famous singers and artists who could be playing on stage for Will and Kate? This is like watching a Folk Arts Festival...fiddles, people banging drums, singing artsy, anonymous tunes which no one knows. We have international stars, who I bet would've have come in a heartbeat to perform if asked. To meet Will and Kate? Sure, I'll be there!!

Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Sarah McLachlan, Bachman and Cummings, what about Arcade Fire the Montreal band which took Artist of the Year at the Grammys??? Bieber, Avril Lavigne??

I mean this show makes us look like we have no music or culture which extends beyond our own borders. No offense to any of these singers and artists...they are obviously talented individuals...but nobody knows any of their music!! 300 thousand people in an open air concert...and the only band playing music which remotely qualifies as familiar is Great Big Sea. Sam Roberts...? Meh. I don't know...he's okay I guess. I know Don't Walk Away Eileen. That's it. Wonder if James Moore's people even thought about approaching the Royals' people and asking them if they had any favourite Canadian artists? I doubt it.

On any other Canada Day I wouldn't complain about the artists they got to play on Parliament Hill...but with Will and Kate here and the international media watching...couldn't we break the piggy bank and try to land a bonafide Canadian international superstar or two?

I find this evening thing particularly embarrassing. It's just a repeat (or seems to be) of the afternoon show. We have so many world famous artists who would, I'm sure be happy to perform here....Incidently, did you all notice how our smarmy Prime Minister, showing off his ability to speak French said "bon voyage" to them. I suppose he thought he was saying "welcome"....LOL
