CBC, National Post announce content-sharing deal
The CBC and the National Post newspaper have announced a deal to share sports and financial coverage across their media platforms.

Effective immediately, CBC.ca will feature financial stories and podcasts from the Financial Post while nationalpost.com will include daily stories from CBC Sports.

The print version of the paper will also periodically include CBC Sports material, the two organizations said in a joint statement issued Thursday afternoon.

Richard Stursberg, executive vice-president of CBC English Services, described the deal as "an attractive arrangement for both organizations.

"As Canada's national public broadcaster, we have an unsurpassed reputation in the field of sports reporting, which will be available to more Canadians through the Post's readership. CBC.ca's financial news content will be enhanced by one of Canada's most trusted and respected sources of business news," he said in a statement.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"This partnership builds on key strengths of two great news organizations," said National Post president and CEO Paul Godfrey. "Together, we will provide Canadians the best in business and sports news."

The agreement comes during a tough time for all media organizations, as the public's appetite for traditional journalism continues to fluctuate and after advertising revenue diminished amid the global financial crisis.

I knew Harper would bail out the National Post, but I didn't think he would have the nerve to use the CBC to do it. This government is reckless and has no scruples. My tax dollars should not be going to the National Post. If I want to read their stuff, I will buy their paper.

You can bet this was a sweetheart deal for the Post, since they won't reveal the financial details.

1. More CRAP
Now we will have a dose of Harper's right wing economics mixed with political comment on the CBC.

Also expect to see the Post start modifying the sports part from the CBC.

TSX was down today but our Finance minister has this to say about our economy....

Gold had a good move today and our Finance minister has the following comment on our Canadian dollar...

On the sports part of it we might even get our Nancy Green as an expert on sports and how the New Canadian Government has poured so much money into the ...

2. The French have a saying...
If you have a barrel of sewage and pour a thimble of wine into it, you end up with... sewage.
But if you have a barrel of wine and pour a thimble of sewage into it, you have... sewage.

I don't see anything good coming out of this.
