'The people of Alberta are the owner of the resource'
Peter Lougheed: I think there has been advantage taken of the slowdown, because a lot of the projects have basically been put on hold for a period of time until the recovery occurs. That has had a positive effect both on the Fort McMurray area and on the area as a whole, with regard to costs and containment of costs.

Peter Lougheed: If we follow the view that I and others have - that there should be more orderly development of the Alberta oil sands, and by that I mean that they should do one project at a time and finish the one project with an upgrader before starting a second project - it would be possible there’d be a number of benefits. One, it would reduce the cost pressures on Albertans. Secondly, it would give time for technology, from an environmental point of view, to catch up. And thirdly, the revenue factors for the province would, in my judgment, improve because it’s based on a net profit basis.

Peter Lougheed: No, I have no information that would lead me to think that the province will change the policy to what I and others are suggesting. I would hope they would, but there is nothing that has been said publicly to this date that would indicate a change of policy or direction with regard to the development of the oil sands.

Peter Lougheed: I have a feeling that there’s a growing number of people receptive to it, because there’s a concern all across Alberta that we have a very high-cost economic scene in this province, and it’s delayed somewhat now but it could return for quickly. It’s not just in Fort McMurray - this cost pressure goes right across the province, and it strikes people in all the various corners of Alberta, and we’re in a situation therefore for the individuals - particularly those on fixed income - in which there’s a lot of concern at the high cost of living.

Where are the Canadian PC's.

The guy that took out the SC and laments our teaching of Canadian history is again standing up!

Wake up all Van Winkels.

1. Where are the Canadian PCs?
We're defunct, that's where we are. Hooligans came and destroyed it a few years ago. We despise the hooligans.
