Fellow Canadians: What's your take on this Paul Martin quote from Tuesday?
From "Toast by Prime Minister Paul Martin in honour of George W. Bush, President of the United States of America"

"We committed ourselves today to a more sophisticated partnership, one driven by a commitment to co-operation across North America and beyond its borders. It is in the spirit of this partnership that I propose a toast to our friendship...."

3. That's what I heard too....

Is it just me, or is this minority govt. a GREAT thing for us Canadians?

Granted, that may just be exclusive to those of us who don't like Martin or his tory-lite policies/behavior. When I heard the concessions to the throne speech, I was thrilled.

9. Not much
He's not stupid enough to commit to something that is very unpopular in Canada.

Like many other social liberal/fiscal conservative Canadians, I happen to like Paul Martin. I don't blame him for forcing Chrétien out after the latter overstayed his welcome. I tend to like a true diplomat as a Prime Minister, someone we don't have to be embarrassed about on the international stage.

In a perfect world we would have all the social programs needed to make life comfortable for those who are less fortunate, but in reality our demographic make this next to impossible. I for one, am glad he's not mortgaging our future by being fiscally irresponsible like so many of his predecessors.
