Will the real Stephen Harper please stand up! Canadians have been fooled!
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 02:45 PM by glarius
It is almost diabolical the way Harper has duped the public into believing the new image he is putting forth. I have seen several in-the-street interviews where the people said things like, "I've changed my mind about him after watching and listening to him," "The Liberals are just using scare tactics to turn us off him" and one sweet faced old white haired lady actually said, "I've decided to vote for him because he's for the little people and not for the big money people."...Sadly, he has succeeded in fooling the vast majority of people into believing that who they see on their screens now, is the real Stephen Harper. I know in my heart if Canadians really knew who he is they would never vote him in! The thing is Harper is so smooth at deflecting questions that would really reveal who he is. When he is asked about his stance on the Iraq war he smiles and says, "everyone knows I'm against sending troups to Iraq." That seems to end it. No one ever follows up with, "then why did you go on Fox TV and apologize to Americans for Canada staying out of it?"....Whenever he is asked anything he doesn't want to answer he simply says that's all part of the Liberal tactics of smearing him and doesn't answer the question...The media is letting him get away with it! I am so disappointed in the Canadian media right now. I thought they were much better than this!

1. It's up to each of us to educate ourselves.
Anyone who accepts spoonfed information at face value deserves what they get.

(The downside, of course, is that if there are enough of them, they bring everyone else down.)

3. And the ads the Liberals have released are pathetic. They are
simply crappy knock-offs of the neocon ads that have redfaced Martin making a face. I'm ready to conclude that there are people in Martin's camp wanting Harper to win.

4. Yes, as you can see the Liberals, big-L I assume, on this board...

...are now bitching more about the NDP than anything else. This is like the Party's strategy now. They just can't seem to recognize their own failures, moral, strategic, whatever. It's like the Liberal Party is gods gift to Canada and if we don't except it, we're unpatrotic twits. Of course it completely simplifies things to the point of being counter intuitive, and ignoring political realities, like whatever riding we're in, actual issues, and the Liberal record of "campaiging like an NDP'er, but governing like a Tory", but hey whatever. The Liberals seem more content to supress the NDP, and try to prevent them from breaking out, as they seem to have retreated to trying to hold their last few strongholds (pretty much just Toronto), and going into Atlantic Canada, Manitoba/Saskatchewan and BC to try to convince NDP voters they need to vote Liberal, even though the NDP is ahead, or moving ahead of the Liberals in those areas.
