Few calls to state jobs hotline

(WSAU) Governor Scott Walker started a “Jobs Hotline” eight months ago to provide answers for companies looking to grow in Wisconsin. But according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the hotline has only had 113 calls since January 28th. There’s no proof that the calls resulted in jobs being created, but there’s still hope for that.

The Journal Sentinel said the names of 12 callers were not released. Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie says it’s because the state might be discussing possible incentives for those firms to build-or-expand in Wisconsin.

During his election campaign last year, Walker said he wanted to be the state’s “Marketer-in Chief.” Part of his promise was to create a hotline with direct access to the governor’s office – and unlike the past, those calls would be returned within 24 hours. That has not always worked out that way. About 40-percent of business callers had not been called back in the 24 hours that Walker promised. Werwie said an existing staff member has handled the hotline, at no extra cost to the taxpayers.

The governor’s Web site had not prominently displayed the phone number for the hotline – but Werwie said that would change soon.

He promised to create 250,000 jobs during his first term... what a loser.

1. I wonder how many of those calls were wrong numbers?
Or people who thought they were calling the "B*** Jobs Hotline"?
