Wisconsin loses 800 private-sector jobs; unemployment rises
http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/129889303.html

"Wisconsin lost an estimated 800 private-sector jobs last month while the unemployment rate ticked higher to 7.9% from 7.8%, prompting Gov. Scott Walker to announce a three-city state tour "to listen to the concerns of job creators."

Job losses also continued in the local government sector, which includes schools as well as city halls and county agencies across the state. Those entities lost an estimated 1,800 jobs.

Including all public and private sectors, the state lost a net 2,300 non-farm jobs in the one-month period, adjusted for seasonal factors.

"We aren't immune from what's happening nationally," Walker said in a statement issued several hours before the state Department of Workforce Development issued the unemployment report Thursday. "As Washington plays politics with jobs, my administration will continue to listen to ways we can create stability and confidence in our state."

August marks the second consecutive month of private-sector jobs losses in Wisconsin, putting a halt to seven previous months of job creation in the state..."

1. We need more than tax breaks for the wealthy.
We need to totally eliminate their taxes and subsidize them generously as well.

This won't generate many jobs, but it will make Walker's friends happy--and after all, what are friends for?

2. And Ron Johnshon has come up with some legislative suggestions
Or Alec has.. " I'm proposing a bill, the Regulation Moratorium and Job Preservation Act, which puts a hold on new regulations until unemployment falls below the level it was when the administration took office, to 7.7%. At least until the crisis passes, we need to stop shifting the earth under the feet of the nation's employers.
Many regulations have been helpful. No one wants to get rid of all regulations. But with an economy stuck in neutral, it's time to give job creators a chance to catch up with the myriad regulations we already have."

3. Walker's careless approach to job creation doesn't give him credibility to
use the excuse about what is happening nationally.
