Question regearding party renewal notices...
Did any other of you people get a notice from the state party saying that your membership has lapsed even though you had already paid you dues for this year?

I got one on Monday, and it seems other people who had already paid have been getting them, too.

It can't be a fault on our end, because I clearly remember paying our county pary's treasurer at our January meeting, so something must be chalrie foxtrotted down in Madison?

WTF is going on down at Madison's end?

Cripes if the State party can't get their shit together, how the fuck are we gong to be able to carry this state for Kerry, re-elect Feingold, and take back at least the state senate?

1. I think the renewal may have gone out to the whole list
We actually did need to renew, so no biggie for us. But I think everyone on the mailing list got one, because we got two -- one to both of us, under our legal names, and one to just Whitacre D_WI, as "Vince." He has his own listing because of his former candidacy -- but he's a member under his legal name, not under his nickname. (Hope that makes sense.) We sent in the renewal, and both mailing labels, and advised them that both of these names belong to the same person.

Not that the state party currently has its act together. It doesn't.

2. Well, they've had a problem with their shiny new database

Our county has had problems getting Madison to get the membership list straightened out since they got it nearly a year ago. If I were you I wouldn't let it go. I would ask an officer of the county party to check into it. Your membership likely didn't get processed correctly. For some state and county Dem functions, the membership numbers really matter so they should be happy to investigate it for you.

on edit: your county party has the state's latest membership list and can tell you if they show you as a paid member for 2004.

3. Yep! I got one too
Apparently, memberships are for CALENDAR YEAR and not one-year from the time you paid. I paid mine in November of last year and I have to renew before I go to the 7th Congressional District Convention in Stevens Point tomorrow.

Our County party had a disaster with it's treasurer last Summer and things are really screwed up. The new guy is working really hard to straighten thins out but it's going to take a while.

4. If you paid in November, it was supposed to cover this year.
Call them on it. They told us that memberships received after October counted as the next year's renewal.
