'Friends of Coal' sponsoring WVU-Marshall game
gotta love that an industry P.R. firm is buying it's name onto two public institutions. Not only has the group defended mountaintop removal, they've also advocated LOWERING safety standards, employing Marshall doofus bobby pruett to go out and say it needs to be done 'in order to compete with china'

1. You know
this is just typical. I just finished reading the May issue of Vanity Fair. The article shows the travesty of mountaintop removal. It says this would never happen in rural Ct.,etc. We've had Byrd, Rockefeller, Rahall, Mollahan, for years and they have let this go on. A lot of people here think Byrd is wonderful, they should see what has happened to our state. We had a little flurry of action after Sago and don't hear so much now. Every West Virginian should visit a MTR. Drilling in Alaska, phooey.

6. criticism of phony dems is fine with me
all the statewide leaders, especially manchin are closet GOP and in the coal companies' back pocket.

our senators and nick rahall are a mixed bag-great on some issues, horrid on coal, but are infinitely better than the guys the GOP floats to replace them, like John Raese

mollahan's a crook and dragging the party down.

and shelley needs to go-now!

but i'll never say a good word about joe manchin, who torpedoed the last statewide candidate by a true progressive (charlotte pritt) in favor of a coal company exec GOP extremist (Underwood)

10. Personally, I prefer to call them what they are:
"Fiends Of Coal."

Hey, it's cheaper by a consonant!

As a double degreed graduate of Harvard-On-The-Mon, I'm sickened by this prostitution of the U for the sake of some dirty, blood-stained, dust-coated money. But I'm also not surprised, considering who Hardesty is.
