Announcing Texans Against Perry

Since the talk is heavy in the air about a potential Perry run for the WH, we've set up a new Facebook page called "Texans Against Perry" to set the record straight on the truth about Perry's miserable 10-year stint as Governor. We Texans know the truth about Rick Perry, and it's time to let the rest of the nation know as well!

After 10 years as Governor, Perry has left Texas with a massive budget shortfall, billions cut from public education, seniors without a safety net and a legacy of corruption. Rick Perry talks a big game about our state's success, but take it from Texans: Don't pick Rick!

Don't believe him. We in Texas know the truth about Perry's reckless mismanagement of our state. Texans are fed up with the cronyism and incompetence that corrupt our government under Rick Perry's governance.

We say no to Rick Perry as President, and stand up with us by saying so below!

Join Texans Against Perry! Just Say No To Rick.

Page is a Facebook page. I'm a little conflicted as I think Perry would be a great failure for a republican presidential run, but on the other hand he's a bigger idiot than bush and I don't trust voters to know the difference. And that's really scary. :scared:

2. The true believer wingnuts think Goodhair and Palin make a perfect couple.
They look so photogenic. But, question here: if you mate to nitwits do you get a half-wit or a quarter-wit?
I could see those two clowns, Perry and Palin on a ticket for the conservanazi republikans. Which one would out-stupid the other?

3. I actually want a Perry/Palin ticket
Or Palin/Perry whicever way it would play out. I'm thinking they are much more beatable than Mitt Romney.

But on the other hand - the same people who believed in bush would give slick Rick a vote. And that's what scares me. Perry is as good at sound bites and shell games as bushie was.

I believe that when you cross the two nitwits you get a double nitwit. Double down on the stupid.

5. Run, Rick, Run
Texas Observer 5/30/11
Run, Rick, Run

(snip)
Lest you fret, dear reader, that I have taken complete leave of my senses, allow me to explain. Or, rather, permit me to ask you to close your eyes for a minute and meditate on this image: Rick Perry on a debate stage. National TV, scorching floodlights, scores of millions of viewers. Hair just so, Grecian Forumla’d to a lustrous black sheen. He is furrowing his brow, squinting in an effort to look Presidential, reminding himself: Try and not sound exactly like George W. The Yankees don’t like that. He is sporting his lucky pink tie. He is fidgety. He is rarin’ to go!

Across the stage, Barack Obama. Supremely confident. Gray-headed. Exuding cool rationality.

And now imagine the questions from the panel of reporters. George Will, George Stephanopolous, Anderson Cooper, Lady Gaga—doesn’t matter. It goes something like this:

"Governor Perry, you said before the campaign began that the single most important issue in 2012 was the Tenth Amendment. Do you honestly believe that the majority of Americans consider states’ rights a higher priority than improving health care or education or national security?"

"Governor Perry, you have hinged your campaign on your success in bringing jobs to the State of Texas. But during the period you boast about, your state added more minimum-wage jobs than the 49 other states combined. Texas now has more citizens living in poverty, more uninsured children and adults than any other state. Is that your vision for America?"

Oh how I wish the media would really ask slick Rick that kind of question. You know they'll give him more of the bushie soft ball questions instead. He's getting better media than even bushie did at this point. :(

6. Can you imagine what the GOP primary would be like in Texas with Palin, Paul & Perry on the ticket
Edited on Fri Jun-03-11 02:01 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
Texas would be in a Republican-eat-Republican feeding frenzy! :D

If the 'Three P's in a Pod' do all run, I suggest we get are BBQ's ready and plan on having some Texas Tailgate fun at their campaign stops! It's not every day we get that kind of entertainment touring through the state!

As to if Perry has a shot at the brass ring; I don't really see it happening. I know, never underestimate the stupidity of the masses, but I've been testing the waters on this one since they started whispering about it. I believe he shot himself in the foot signing the sonogram/abortion bill into law. Hell, I'm not even sure he can win in Texas again after that one if another R were to challenge him. I'm amazed at how many conservative, Republican women are livid over that law. He alienated every female in the state except those on the extreme religious right. He's been a poster boy for the GOP in all the things RW extremist love, but he's going to be a harder sell to the rest of their party.

10. Look at this crap sales pitch in Time

A Favorable Political Season for Rick Perry

Looking a little tired, but still standing tall on the center stage of Texas politics, Governor Rick Perry was triumphant at an Austin press conference Monday. He got most of what he wanted and then some from the regular state legislative session that ended this weekend, and perceived dissatisfaction with the prospective GOP presidential field has launched him into the national conversation.

In the statehouse, lawmakers passed a lean — some critics say mean — $172.3 billion biennial budget that saw statewide spending cut by a little more than $15 billion. There were no new taxes, of course, and lawmakers also passed a raft of conservative measures including a voter ID bill and legislation requiring women to receive sonograms at abortion clinics before going through with the procedure. They also approved two measures hailed by human rights advocates, a law combating human trafficking and an anti-bullying bill.

It wasn’t perfect for Perry — he had to agree to dip into the state’s $9 billion rainy day fund to the tune of $3 billion, and state senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) filibustered the school finance bill, a crucial part of the overall budget picture, pushing lawmakers into an overtime special session. But for Perry, who has repeatedly defied the odds and emerged victorious from tough political battles throughout his career, even a special session has a silver lining.

As one key statehouse leader summed it up, the session is a “gift” for the Governor. Under Texas law, the Governor sets the agenda for a special session and only needs a simple majority in the state senate to get it passed. Under regular rules, he needed a two-thirds vote in the state senate, where Democrats hold 12 of the 31 seats. The House already has a Republican super-majority.

Man he is being played up as the right wing savior who brought home the right wing bacon! The sonogram bill is not going to hurt him with the wingers and by the time of the election - it's old news.

Oh how I hate this creep, Perry!!

of Perry, but if this economy doesn't turn around, Perry might have a good chance to win the Republican nomination, AND a chance to win the presidential election. I just don't think Republicans would choose Romney over Perry. I shudder the thought of ANY republican winning the presidency again.

And, I will be placing this on my facebook page.

9. Getting rid of Perry would be a dream
I'll admit that is the one silver lining of a national run. He's gotta give up being our Governor to run.

So my dream would be he quits being our despot Governor and then gets his ass kicked in the republican primary for President. That would be so sweeeetttt!

The Coyote Candidate

Today, we are going to discuss Gov. Rick Perry of Texas.
Get back here and sit down.

Perry is the latest Republican Party crush. Rush Limbaugh delivered a 20-minute paean on the radio, begging him to run for president. He’s from the South, and he has great hair! What more could you want?

The G.O.P. is desperately seeking someone who can save the party from the fate of nominating Mitt Romney. But every time a non-Mitt throws his hat in the ring, the hat explodes. Newt Gingrich has been a candidate only about two weeks, and already he has announced that anyone who quotes his comments about Medicare on “Meet the Press” would be lying. And he responded to the question “did you owe a half-million dollars to a jewelry company at one point?” with a series of nonanswers, one of which was “we are very frugal.”

Meanwhile, about-to-announce Rick Santorum told an interviewer that John McCain doesn’t understand about interrogating people under torture.
Perry! Perry! Perry!

Guest Column: Why Perry Shouldn't Run for President

Like other Texans, I can get in the mood for a Texan to be in charge. After all, if God hadn’t intended for Texas to be the center of the universe, he wouldn’t have put us there. But with the (arguable) exception of Dwight Eisenhower, presidents with Texas roots haven’t exactly been nominated for sainthood after it’s all said and done.

The most recent example of the species, George W. Bush, even prompted my friend Molly Ivins to declare, “The next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be President of the United States, please pay attention.”

It’s time to pay attention. Here comes Rick Perry.

If Perry hadn’t thought about running for president before, he’d be a fool not to think about it now, as the stable of Republican alternatives is full of lame horses. But the case against him doesn’t lie in comparing him to the rest of the Republican field; it’s in examining the flip side of his own coin.

Most Perry fans can be categorized in one of two camps. The first are ultra-conservatives of some ilk — either traditional evangelical, Christian-right voters or voters loosely associated with Tea Party values. They love their anti-Obama red meat, and they don’t like Washington. They’re attracted to Perry because nobody’s better than him at kicking Washington in the collective butt, and nobody does anti-Obama red meat better than gun-totin’, coyote-shootin’, states' rights-toutin’ Rick Perry.

The thought of seeing Perry in the national news daily makes me sick. :puke:
