Perry Kills Historical Commission, He Could Also Decimate Future
It hasn't been easy reaching a preservationist in this state in the last couple of hours. Or in D.C., for that matter. Not since Governor Rick Perry announced earlier today that in order to save the state some money, he's proposing the elimination of the Texas Historical Commission, at least during the next two-year budget cycle.

The Texas Historical Commission plants those historical markers. It makes sure that the more than 234 historic courthouses remaining in the state remain upright. It helps maintain Texas's entries on the list of National Register of Historic Places. And, among its myriad other duties, it oversees the distribution of the federal historic preservation tax incentives that help fund the rehabs of old, abandoned downtown buildings.

2. He is toally delusional
And the people of Texas that voted him in are in the same la la land.

He is not only decimating our future but our present as well.

Another way he's decimating our future is by the cuts in public education and higher education. Perry thinks Universities are just going to discount their costs to provide more affordable college degrees since the state is passing the buck.

In State of State speech, Perry touts Texas, downplays looming shortfall
(snip)
Perry challenged state colleges and universities to develop a bachelor's degree program that costs no more than $10,000, including textbooks.

That would be a stunning discount from current costs. The University of Texas, for instance, charges anywhere from $9,860 to $11,200 a year for tuition and books, depending on the course of study, according to its website.

4. That's right - passing the buck
That's Perry's number one skill. He just passes the responsibility and cost to anyone he can. Just so he can lie about "no new taxes'.

6. And those $10K college degrees may be cut from the budget anyway
Texas Tribune has the story today:
Texas Has a $10,000 Degree — But for How Long?

Alternate reality Rick! Doesn't know which pocket he's stealing from so long as it's not his. :grr:
