Wanted: Information about Pete Olson
I was surprised to see that Olson won the primary to take on Nick Lampson. I checked out Olson's Wikipedia article , and it reads like a campaign bio.

In the next few days, I'll do what I can do under Wikipedia policies, by removing the puffery and adding a neutral tone. Beyond that, though, it needs more information, especially whatever would NOT be found in his official campaign bio.

Can anyone help? We need information that's supported by citation to MSM sources. We can include facts, and also opinions from prominent spokespersons (not bloggers) if attributed to the source.

Feel free to edit the article yourself. Wiki markup isn't that hard, and if you screw up the formatting, no one will yell at you -- I or someone else will just fix it. If you don't want to try editing it yourself, though, please feel free to PM me or email me at JamesMLane at aol dot com.

Thanks!

3. About Olson's Old Boss
When it comes to fiscal matters, I remember Phil Gramm as much for deregulating the savings and loans industry---and costing the taxpayers BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars when those S&Ls failed as for his professed fiscal conservatism. Those S&Ls cost the taxpayers many, many times more than make-believe "welfare queens" ever did.

I don't know if Olson was working for Gramm when he deregulated the S&Ls or not.

4. Worked for both Gramm and Cornyn
Virtual Capitol blog 4/9/08
Ex-Senate aide wins Republican runoff for DeLay's old congressional seat

An ex-Senate aide defeated a former city councilwoman in a runoff election Tuesday as Houston-area Republicans chose a nominee for former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's old congressional seat in District 22.

(snip)

Olson was an aide to former U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm and current Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.

That's two strikes against him, right out of the gate.
