Pics from the Peace Rally Fort Worth: Dial up warning
Here's some pics from yesterday. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't as many people as there should have been (it almost felt like a freeper rally, there were freepers there showing there support for the War Profiteers...).

Oh well, the ones who showed up offered support for ending the war..... Enjoy!

BlueCollar poses with his sign. Notice his DU sticker....

More arrests with citations for the Mad king Boy George, Oil Slick Dick, and Condescending Rice

How many more?!?!?!?

Carolyn plays to the crowd

Cindy addresses the Pro War crowd, who think they can speak for Casey.

Her colors don't run because she carries a plastic flag. What an insult!

Mad king Boy George and his Pro War Freepers

Mad king Boy George, Oil Slick Dick, and Condescending Rice being arrested by Code Pink!

I Miss America Pageant (Do I see YellowDogInTexas as Miss de Ballots)

I Miss America Pageant (Miss de Ballots being introduced, DU's very own YellowDog)

I Miss America takes the stage, boy do I MISS AMERICA!

I Miss America Contestants

Not every flag waver is Pro War

Oil Slick Dick, Where's my Halliburton limo?!?!?

Who let the Gitmo prisoner out

Impeach to RESTORE "THE RULE OF LAW"

Peace on the MARCH

Freepers baking in the sun (notice the sign of the right) it reads "THE DEMOCRATS KILLED MY UNBORN GRANDCHILD" apparently this man's daughter is a slut and so he has to blame the democrats for her abortion. Sorry I couldn't resist name calling, but I calls 'em like I sees 'em, and I have a hard time defending daddy's accusation of blaming democrats for her actions, I actually feel sorry for the daughter, I wonder how old she is and if she got the tar beat out of her for being a pregnant democrat.

Veterans for Peace!

Gitmo prisoner for NO BORDERS, NO BOSSES, NO WAR

Noticed this camera on top of the convention center. Hope they enjoyed the show!

1. Great shots, MMuffin! The freepers were some of the BEST entertainment!
All of the GOPers coming out of the convention were also a hoot. Very interesting fascion choices. Flag apparel, churchclown dresses, whole families in matching prowar attire. Man o man, are we different tribes or what?

I watched the cops watching us, through their binoculars. But to their credit, they were very laid back.
Viva democracy.

the one part that bugged me was when Cindy said that dems should be in jail alongside the Bushistas. I don't quite go for that - IWR being miscast as direct vote for war? For continuing funding? Rather than be specific, it was more "both are equally guilty" and I disagree. But she did NOT deserve the shit the freepers were tossing her way.

Wow, I am a centrist?
Never thought that would happen, LOL!

10. Thx Prophet
Yes the Gop'ers were an exciting bunch to watch. I noticed while looking for parking spaces that there were a lot that avoided the rally site. Maybe they thought that being too close to us might turn them into raging liberals or something.

And yeah Cindy isn't helping her cause by slamming all democrats. I like Cindy and I wish she had decided to run as a democrat then I would be more inclined to support her campaign. I also think if more progressives would fight for our party like we are trying to fight back state by state to Take Our Country Back.

I seem to remember us chanting yesterday "People United Will NEVER be DEFEATED" that should be more than a rally cry, it should be a chant for action. We could by sheer number of progressives running for office might have far better results than running as independents.

So, no Bongo Prophet you aren't a centrist, not by a long shot. It just seems that way.

3. A hearty kick from a Ft. Worth gal living in Michigan
I'm suddenly very homesick. I'm so proud of my fellow Texans! I don't get to say that too often, it seems. These photos are just gorgeous!!!

8. I wish we could have you down here too, patsiefied!
Fort worth is NOT a political city, as you probably know. Hence the small turnout.
The colleges don't really add a progressive element, and it is decentralized and "sprawled out" so there is no real culture.
DESPITE the great Museum district and all of that.

It was a nice warm Texas day, though. Maybe the future will pick up around here.

So, what the heck is up with Michigan and the primaries?
Any clue on why they made that move?

21. The police told the organizer this was the first political protest
he had ever worked in Fort Worth in nearly 30 years as police officer. Also another one walked up to her and told her he was behind us 100% even though he was in uniform and could not say or do anything publicly.

There was a LOT of expense to this so if you donated to help defray them, I extend thanks on the part of the organizing committee.

Quite fun seeing Magic Muffin and BlueCollar again. It has been a while since our North Texas group got together for a dinner. Things just get in the way don't they.

Nice pictures, Muffin!

11. Thx for the complements, patsified ;=D

:hi:I'm sorry to make you homesick for this place.

I have larger sizes for the pics, I downsized them from 42" down to 6" quite a huge difference, so you lose a lot in the details doing that but I didn't know how large to make them.

What part of Ft. Worth are you from? I lived most of my life on the east side up until I graduated from high school.

4. You know that man's daughter? how?
if not, how do you not know she was not married and did not choose abortion because it was found to have serious birth defects?
or it could be his son's partner had an abortion.
Or it could be he made that up. or a million other possibilities.
don't presume any woman going inta a Planned Parenthood clinic for an abortion is a slut.

5. The slut comment was a joke...A VERY bad nasty naughty joke! ;=(
I don't know how she got herself in that situation. My point is that her father is blaming the democrats for his daughter's action.

Do you feel responsible for his lost grandchild?!?!?

And don't presume I don't know what she went through, since I can speak with experience on this subject. Not something I like discussing but there it is. So, I don't think anyone going into a Planned Parenthood clinic is a slut I never implied otherwise, because I have no way of knowing if she even went to Planned Parenthood. Or she could have been under age and he took her to Planned Parenthood, who knows.

You're right about me not knowing the details, and I would have inquired if I would have noticed at the time. I didn't give these people much attention and only noticed his sign after uploading them. But I would have asked him some of the questions you raised as well as some other questions.

I had a girlfriend who worked at Planned Parenthood and she told me about an epidemic with teenage girls having STD's, and how several of them were repeats.

I apologize again if I offended anyone. Bad judgment on my part.:spank:

6. I took it as bad sarcasm, but because I know Muffin, she got benefit of doubt.
Angry freeper logic pisses her off big time, and I know that Muffin identifies with that "slut" in the metaphor, from difficult personal experience.
So badly worded, but she is good people. :hi:

You are right of course, we don't know anything about it.
I almost went down to talk to the guy, and ask him about it, but didn't think it would be worth it.
He had his protest cards bound with rings, and would flip from one to the next every few minutes.
The usual blame shifting, accusations, strange freeper logic all added up to a mean and inconsistent message.
There were a few other messages relating to this grandkid the dems "killed."
Dems are also responsible for the war, and the deaths if we get out.
For the "party of personal responsibility" they sure can avoid it.

I think the psychology may be that he HAS to blame Dems for his "lost grandkid" in order to square some freeper shame associated with both the sex and whatever other reasons. It would allow him to take shame/anger from daughter and transfer it. At least it might mean he is nicer to his daughter as a result of that mind trick.
(daughter could mean in-law, of course)
But enough pop psychology, done from my seat in the shade, wondering what the hell goes through these guys minds.

I did feel kinda sorry for the freeper kids, and hope they can successfully mature when they leave the nest.
Imagine being a teenager, holding a sign about how war protesters caused Vietnam to go on an extra few years, and thus to blame for "most" of the deaths.
Or that Casey Sheehan thinks his mother is a traitor. And holding that up 15 feet from where Cindy was speaking.
Both real examples. Oy.

16. It's good to know that IVAW & VFP are everywhere, it's also good to have visibility
as well as the Bobbleheads. I spoke with the person managing the heads and asked if they just get shipped around and he informed me that is the case. I think that is pretty kewl. I gave him my blog card and mentioned the video I worked on that featured the bobbleheads.

13. Hey w8liftinglady, i bet we saw each other.
i was a guy with a green umbrella, a pounding headache and NO RON PAUL sign. :)

They were out like flies, huh?
Apparently they got shafted in the GOP straw poll, with some not allowed to vote.
Kind of ironic, those GOPers and voting.

14. Hey There w8liftinglady
Wish I would have known you were there we could have met. I met up with BlueCollar and YellowDog for a short bit.

Crap I didn't check out the news. I really didn't think we would garner any coverage, although I did see some people who could have been with the network. I hope I wasn't one of the people covered.

It was fun! I talked a lot to the BobbleHeads. Gave them my blog business cards with the info on the back to my video on Youtube I did that featured them from the DC march this past March. I also gave cards to Cindy as she is featured in the video as well. I just hope they check them out:blush:

18. The Eaglets. moving the frontlines at the barricades. LOL
I am glad they weren't more confrontational.

Imagine 20 Fratboy freepers yelling und putsching. No good comes of that, history shows.

No one needs that disruptive BS, as the goal of this rally was to create a safe place to show a presence.
I think that was it.
Hope so, because IF so, it was successful...;)

19. Yep, it was pretty pathetic since the kids don't understand the situation
but hell I'm pretty sure their parents don't understand as well.

Did you happen to see the woman carrying the "Who Would Jesus Bomb" sign?
Those A'Holes told her that Jesus would bomb people like us?
She told them that she would pray for them.
She was telling us that they wanted us dead. She generally looked dumbfounded that people who claim to be christians would want us dead. It was kinda hard to reply with a response other than "Yeah they do" and she proceeded to inform other people of her encounter.
I felt really bad for her, that she had to witness these people's behavior and see and hear how screwed up they are.

But then again there was the young girl holding a sign about Casey Sheehan and how he would be ashamed of his mother and _____________ I don't recall (something this MisAdministration has a problem with) the exact saying, but I found that sign totally offensive, and here's this kid probably being forced to stand there in the hot Texas sun and hold this sign for hours. I bet she would have rather been hanging out with the other children that were playing, blowing bubbles, running around, but noooooo not her, she got to bake in the heat. Oh well, perhaps this will be an experience that will change her somewhere down the road.

These people are totally fooked up and I'm afraid there is no cure for them.

20. Thanks for coming to everyone
I know the crowd wasn't as large as some of us would have liked...I estimated 300-400 people showed up but we made the point.

As has been pointed out already, we actually gor some air-time and the "freepers" only numbered a dozen or so all day.

Given the weather etc. I thought it all came out quite well in the end.

MM...Thanks for taking and posting the pictures

Glad to see and meet the other evilDUers...

We'll have to put together a Fort Worth Chapter soon...
