John Courage will run in CD21 against Lamar Smith
This man is named Courage for a reason. John had a very difficult decision to make this weekend. We've all seen the maps and they don't look pretty in CD21 for a challenger. This district was drawn specifically by the courts to protect the incumbent Lamar Smith. But I have news for Lamar - we're coming after you. You can't run and hide from your record. We will expose you in any district you run. We will not leave the 21st Congressional district unchallenged.

Partial list of Lamar's sins
GOP Auction House - Lamar Smith

For all of you who have met John along this campaign, I urge you to keep fighting with us. No matter what district you ended up in. It is time to stand behind the good candidates who are running for us. John and his wife Zada are sacrificing a lot to do this, as are most of our statewide candidates. We have to kick it up some serious notches. We can win when we believe we can win. We have the opportunity of a lifetime to regain control of the US House.
Courage for Congress

This makes me so damn happy!

4. Correction...
Thanks to NoPasaran, I now have the correct map. I am back in CD 25 and although I am happy for myself, I am still so concerned about Courage! UT will help, but the favoring of Smith on the new map is so obvious and so dangerous.

5. At Times Like These Congress STILL Needs Courage
Letter from John Courage
When you can keep your head while all around you are losing theirs, that takes courage. When all these redistricting plans keep falling from upon high on our campaign you might expect that we would be running around saying "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!” ---Well I'm no Chicken Little!

We entered this race to restore honesty, integrity and common sense back to Congress, and to restore the checks and balances provided by our Constitution, so sorely missing in Washington. I committed to defeating an incumbent rubberstamp Republican and that commitment has not changed. I will chase Lamar Smith all over Texas if I have to....

We remain as committed, even more so, than we were a year ago when we began this campaign, and I'm not quitting until the last vote is counted! Democratically yours, John C."

Three weeks ago, I posted this message to all my supporters on my blog at CourageforCongress.org. That was how I felt then, and it is still how I feel today.

The redistricting ordered by the Federal Courts last week may have changed some of my precincts and some of my constituents, but it doesn't change my resolve. The people of Texas—good, honest, hardworking people, from San Antonio to Austin and throughout the Hill Country deserve hardworking, honest representation in Washington. All of us expect and deserve a government that works. Our government today is not working; the majority of us believe that our government is headed in the wrong direction. In order to get things right we need to change what isn't working with people who will work to get it right. That's why I am remaining in this race. I anxiously await what the Secretary of State's office will establish as the guidelines for filing, and I intend to re-file and let the residents of Congressional District 21 know that they have a choice. They can vote for change or they can allow more of the same.

I give them a clear choice: leadership, rather than blind partisanship. This is something the current officeholder has never given them before.

I want to be the eyes, and ears, and voice of the people of the 21st District in Congress.

At times like these, Congress needs Courage!

John Courage

That's our man in CD21!!
