Stomach bug afloat at Austin Convention Center but the good news is
that the evacuees are getting housing. The numbers are down from 5000 to 1400. This from my daughter who just came back from volunteering this evening.

1. Are they getting housing here in the Austin area? I have a friend who
signed up and never heard back.
We speculated that maybe they were trying to reunite families before they set someone up in housing.

I'm hoping that they got such a big response that her volunteering to house a family wasn't needed.

2. Most are opting for rental where they will not have to move again and
can have their "own" space. But they might not be aware of your friend's generous offer of space if it was listed under Move-on.org and not the Red Cross, as I believe, they (RC)are not allowed to do private placement because of the liability.

3. She DID do the listing through MoveOn.org.
I wonder how the MoveOn are getting publicized?

4. Don't know but I will ask someone if that resource is being used?

5. They are having to publicize it themselves.
I am in Dallas and I got an email asking me to print out flyers for hurricanehousing.org and take them around to hotels and to the shelters. I haven't been able to do so yet.
