PA newspaper editor joins Kenyon for body recovery ; good or bad news?
North Summit Man joins search team in New Orleans

Monday, October 3, 2005

A member of Butler-based Air Search and Rescue is spending three weeks in New Orleans, working to recover bodies of Hurricane Katrina victims.

Jim Ware, of Summit, Butler County, will work with Kenyon International Services, a Houston company contracted to recover bodies. Accompanied by soldiers and police officers, Ware expects to visit hurricane ravaged homes to recover victims who died after Katrina roared ashore Aug. 29. He is an assistant city editor with the Valley News Dispatch, a sister paper of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Ware said the task will be gruesome, but he sees it as an opportunity to give hurricane victims respect and dignity.

"What if it happened here and it was my relatives?" Ware said. "I'd want to know someone was taking care of them. That's why I do search and rescue."

1. Pittsburgh Trib is a RW rag...suitable for lining bird cages
The Trib bought almost all the local papers, like the Valley News Dispatch, in an attempt to control the suburban mini-papers.

2. I grew up on the VND
and delivered it as a kid. I can't say I noted any partiuclar bias, other than being heavily pro-union (which is a given considering the presence of Allegheny Ludlum in the area.

4. The Trib bought them, along with all other Gateway Newspapers
The Trib owns virtually ALL of the suburban Pittsburgh newspapers now. In other words, Scaife is trying to control all the news sources he can for the RW.

3. I really don't know but my friend was telling me
that 2 of his buddies just got back from helping in New Orleans. They
said that the water is still FULL of bodies, but they were told to not
touch the bodies and only deal with the storm debris. Someone needs
to help with body recovery.
