All Pennsylvania taxpayers now paying for Santorum's cyberschool kids
It's not just Penn Hills problem now...all of us paying taxes in PA are ponying up for (p)Ricky's kids cyber-swindle.:grr:

State agrees to pay Penn Hills schools for Santorum
Saturday, September 02, 2006

By Eleanor Chute and James O'Toole, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The state Department of Education has agreed to pay the Penn Hills School District $55,000 to settle a dispute over whether the school district should have paid for cyber schooling for the children of U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.

The settlement doesn't address whether Mr. Santorum is a resident of Penn Hills. And the Republican senator and the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School don't have to pay any of the money, said Brian McDonald, spokesman for the state Department of Education. The money will come from state coffers.

The Penn Hills school board is expected to vote Sept. 12 on whether to accept the settlement.

Mr. McDonald said the agreement will save taxpayers money by avoiding a lengthy legal dispute.

1. I am against Santorum being re-elected with every fiber of my being.
However, I don't see a problem with the state of Pennsylvania paying for the education of one of its senators' children. I don't think that the Penn Hills school district should have had to solely paid for it as was the case previously, but Pennsylvania paying for it isn't a problem for me.

The thing that really makes me mad is that he made such a big deal about his former opponent living outside of the state in one of the past elections. He's a hypocrite given this fact!

2. I can't define residency, but, I know it when I see it...why should PA pay
Why should Pennsylvania residents pay for any Virginia children's education?

With the 30% raises he's voted himself, pRicky should pay out of pocket.

his/her family with them while he/she is representing us, and I personally don't think that it's too much for a senator to expect to still be considered a Pennsylvania citizen in all ways. I tried to look at this based upon how I would feel if a Democrat wanted to have his/her children with them. I'd want to support this, and I'd feel that I as a Pennsylvanian should monetarily support it.

I understand that they live in Virginia, but the senator is representing Pennsylvania. (I hope with all my heart that it will soon be another senator.) It doesn't matter to me whether you agree with me. This is how I personally feel.

3. PA paying for it is a problem when the senator actually resides in VA.
I DO NOT want my taxpayer dollars going to pay for the education of his VA-resident children.

6. He's a disgrace as a senator.
We're definitely agreeing on that. Santorum is the biggest of hypocrites. He's running ads in PA saying how he helped guarantee that senior citizens would get their Social Security. Meanwhile, he toured the state trying to sell Bush's privatization program.

I work in a pharmacy. Everyday now senior citizens are hitting the "doughnut hole" on their Medicare Part D. At that point they are responsible for the next $3000 of their medications. I know damn well that some of them will just stop taking them. Santorum runs ads showing how he is taking care of senior's health, giving them more access to health care. HA! Some of them will die because they either will not take their meds, they will not eat, or they will not heat their homes this winter. They can't afford to do all three.

He's cyber schooling those VA children of his on the backs of the PA senior citizens who can no longer afford their medications.

That snake in the grass burns my hide. :grr:

Casey is appearing at the Labor Day Parade in Pittsburgh on Monday morning and at the Labor Day picnic in Northmoreland Park on Monday afternoon. I hope everyone takes the opportunity to get out and show him their support.

7. I agree with everything that you're saying. He thinks that we're...
stupid and won't remember how often he sold us out to support his masters in the B* cabal. The problem is that many people will indeed have forgotten or never noticed what he did in the first place because they don't pay attention to poliitcs (much to their detriment). I hope that Casey starts airing more ads very soon.

Santorum is an arrogant man who looks down on everyone else. I truly believe that he really doesn't care in the least that people are dying.

Please don't take what I said about paying for the schooling in any way as a sign of support for Santorum. What I was saying was a blanket statement about what I feel in reference to any of our representatives.

One good thing is that I think that most senior citizens won't forget what Santorum has done over the last 6 years, and they're reliable voters.

8. I've heard a lot of seniors complaining about Lil' Ricky.
I hope every single one of them goes to the polls!

He IS an arrogant prick, and I can tell you don't support him. :toast: I just plain resent him and everything he touches.

Now, let's see those Casey ads!

15. I saw one today, (9/9)
It showed a working class woman talking about how she and her husband have to work in order to pay the bills. A copy of Sanscrotum's book, "It Takes A Family" was also shown. The woman commented on the part where Ricky says that one paycheck is all that's needed to support a family. The woman in the commercial made the comment that Santorum should come to her home on the end of the month. Another comment was along the lines of this: Unlike the Senator, I don't get to vote myself a pay raise.

pay raises.

It's a very effective ad.

17. Watch this great ad about Santorum
This ad shows just how out of touch Ricky is with the vast majority of Pennsylvanians. 2/3 of Pennsylvanians disapprove of George Bush's job performance, but Rick still thinks he's "a terrific president."

19. thank God they aired that! It was very good.
I was starting for feel increadibly frustrated that they weren't calling him on his record. The man's a walking disaster area - call him on it!

and then Santorum uses his kids to shill for him ( well, granted I bet they asked to do it), but still!

9. Honestly ...
I don't see why a senator for Pennsylvania should live anywhere other than PA ...

He was on Meet the Press today, talking out of both sides of his mouth ... One on hand, he got all bent out of shape that he wanted to put his head on the pillow of the bed where his children lived, and on the other he bragged about how much time he spent in PA ... And, how he keeps a house in PA and pays his taxes and the such ...

What is it, that you spend so much time in DC, or you spend so much time in PA ???

Fact is, this freakin puke has it totally backwards ... And, he lives in VA out of choice, cause he is too good for Pa ...

This congress, of which he proudly notes he is number three in charge of, has met less than any congress since the 48 "do nothing" congress ... They have sessions that start on Tuesday and run through Thursday ...

NO reason dude should be living in PA, and keeping a place in the DC area to shack up for a couple nights during sessions ... 50% of the state is withing a three/four hour drive of DC ... On those RARE times when this congress meets based on HIS party's agenda (again, of which he is a leader), he could get his butt up at 5 in the morning on Tuesday, drive down to DC ... Spend Tuesday and Wednesday night at his pad down there, and come back home ...

I saw a bit the other day how some of the new Representatives have little places they go in on, literally living in bunk beds with each other ... THIS is the way these guys should do it ...

They are freakin elected officials, not royalty ...

10. Exactly! Santorum has no trouble telling others to suck it up /work hard
Make sacrifices/etc. but he expects, no, feels ENTITLED to live in Virginia to keep his kids close.

Well I say, "Suck it up, Rick. Lot's of people have to travel and spend hours commuting to their job or even jobs. Time for Rick to lose the entitlement attitude."

11. You can actually get from PA to DC
in an hour and a half. Just have to live on the PA/MD border.
Of course, no sense moving now as he's only got another couple months left in office.

It is only fitting that the State providing the second highest amount of contributions for Santorum's campaign was Virginia.

20. Santorum
I watched Santorum TV spot where he used his kids. Was that shot at his mother's house in Penn Hills or are we being tricked again.
I didn't see any Steelers shirts on the little bastards. Do you think those fuck heads have ever been to a game in Pittsburgh.

21. pRicky's pretend playhouse is located next to his in-laws.
The ad was shot in his pretend playhouse. The Garvers, his wife's parents, live next door.

Here's the link to the Allegheny County Assessment page to search on his name so you can see for yourself.
