Sit in at Ohio Statehouse to protest election fraud this Sat
I would like to go, but am currently scheduled to work 12-6pm on Sat. Guess I'll have to find out if my very wonderful employee will work a 12 hour shift this sat.

If any of my DU friends are going, let me know.

If I go, what do you think my sign should read? I found some 4x4ft pieces of cardboard in my garage recently....

Dear Concerned Americans,

There will be a peaceful sit-in at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus,
Ohio, on Saturday, November 13th at 1PM. We will gather around the
building and sit on the steps to protest the unfair election that has taken
place.

The Ohio Statehouse is located in the center of Columbus, at the corner
of Broad and High streets downtown. As soon as we get an exact street
address, we will post it. (though I think its going to be difficult to
miss the building) Here is a map of the area:

http://www.statehouse.state.oh.us/maps.cfm

There are too many stories of election fraud to even begin to list.
They have been coming in from all sides, yet the media is strangly
silent. It cannot be a massive tabulation error--such errors would have
undoubted favored Kerry a few times as well. But as it stands, President
Bush has been the only candidate to recieve extra votes because of these
problems. If the media will not report, then we must come together and
make them listen.

We are protesting the use of electronic voting machines without paper
trails. Using such machines, we have no way to know that our vote is
being counted as we cast it. Such systems are easily hackable. On top of
that, we certainly are not comfortable with for-profit companies
counting our votes. We are also protesting the media silence and we want
them to start investigating.

This will be a peaceful affair. We do not want to give the police any
reason to arrest any of us. When you come, find a place and sit down.
If you are coming, email [email protected] and let us know.

We are also in desperate need of volunteers. Please contact
[email protected] if you are interesting in helping.

Our website is http://www.freewebs.com/libertyordeath/index.html . If
you try to get on the site and it is down or the bandwidth is exceeded,
try again later. We have purchased additional bandwidth and it is on
the way.

We will be posting more information throughout the week. Tell everyone
you can. Contact your local Democratic party headquarters and get them
involved. And again, we need some volunteers to help out.

3. Public Hearing in Ohio on Saturday and Monday
Public hearings in Ohio on Saturday!

There are public hearings being called by six Ohio voter groups to hear testimony on Saturday and Monday. What an opportunity to take it to the streets (and get media coverage and collect additional evidence)! Wish I could be there.

People in Ohio should definitely try to attend, as there will be new testimony to add to the evidence. If this gets passed around kos and DU, maybe there will be enough protesters outside to get more media attention to this issue.

I can only hope that Michael Moore and Bev Harris from blackboxvoting will learn about this.

CALL FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS IN OHIO!

They might have conceded - but we haven't conceded our right to have our votes count.

The Ohio Citizens Alliance for Secure Elections (CASE-OH), Common Cause Ohio, Ohio Election Reform Now, Columbus Institute for
Contemporary Journalism, WVKO Radio, People for the American Way Foundation, and the Columbus League of Pissed Off Voters are calling for public hearings to investigate voting irregularities and voter suppression in Ohio surrounding the 2004 General Election.

THIS IS A NONPARTISAN STATEWIDE CALL TO ACTION. VOTERS AND POLL WORKERS FROM AROUND THE STATE ARE INVITED TO TESTIFY.

Monday November 15, 6-9 PM,

6. They are trying to get Harris and Palast to attend
don't remember where I read that (probably CASE Ohio website, or NEOhio ACT)

I want to go to both the hearings and the protest -- we'll see if it works out. I volunteered to coordinate my county and looks like there's a meeting on Monday too...good thing Bandar finally came thru with some lower oil prices, huh?

I'll email this to the sender of the original, but the statehouse is the entire center block of downtown Columbus. (It is a gorgeous restoration, I have to admit, but I imagine we're still paying for it.) This would be the South East corner of the intersection of Broad and High Streets. May want to park at Vets Memorial and walk (Broad Street on the West side of the river -- about 4 blocks but likely cheaper and unlikely towing -- read any street parking signs carefully, I think they write them confusingly on purpose...)

Another cheap (possibly free) parking option is the garage across High (behind a small park) from the courthouse (369-375 South High) Used to not be attended on the weekends and they would leave a gate up.
