Today We Are Ohio announced all petition signatures will be delivered to the Ohio Secretary of State on June 29th, 2011. State law requires the petitions be delivered on or before June 30th, 2011. To celebrate the delivery of petitions, We Are Ohio will also hold a parade which will begin on West Broad Street near COSI and end on 4th Street at the Secretary of State office building.

Following the unprecedented level of support to repeal SB 5, the unfair attack on employee rights and worker safety, We Are Ohio is excited to invite our thousands of volunteers to Columbus to deliver the peoples petition, said Melissa Fazekas, spokeswoman for We Are Ohio. While we know there is a lot of work to still be done before November, we are going to take time on June 29th to savor this historic moment and thank our more than 10,000 volunteers for their amazing work. This parade is a celebration of their monumental achievement.

COLUMBUS -- Senate Bill 5 opponents will have a parade next week to celebrate the completion of their petition drive to repeal the controversial new collective bargaining law.

Labor groups and other volunteers will march on Wednesday through downtown Columbus to the office of Secretary of State Jon Husted, where they will submit 714,000-plus signatures they have gathered to place the issue before voters in November.

The parade will start at COSI, the Columbus science center, at 11 a.m. and move past the Statehouse. We Are Ohio, the group leading the petition drive, plans a press conference afterward to announce its final signature totals, said spokeswoman Melissa Fazekas.

"Following the unprecedented level of support to repeal SB 5, the unfair attack on employee rights and worker safety, We Are Ohio is excited to invite our thousands of volunteers to Columbus to deliver the people's petition," Fazekas said in a released statement. "While we know there is a lot of work to still be done before November, we are going to take time on June 29 to savor this historic moment and thank our more than 10,000 volunteers for their amazing work."
