Fingerhut top choice for Chancellor?
At first, I thought this was weird, a mis-match. Now I think it's a brilliant idea. Fingerhut is so damn smart. Who better to set the direction for getting the youth of today ready for the work world of tomorrow. He knows EVERYTHING about Ohio. Now I am really happy about this.

See this article, if you haven't already and are interested:

1. Now that would be a brilliant move
Fingerhut understands funding in Ohio. He has a great respect for education. Go for it, Ted.

2. Thanks for bringing this to our attenetion Poli. I am a whole hearted supporter
of Eric, and am glad I am not the only one.

Eric would LOVE to have the position.

He has already conceived of a strategic plan.

The GOP in the State House respect him, and as you noted, he is smart, smart, smart.

Simply said, Ohio deserves to have him serve this state.

I intend to call the State House to voice my support for naming him chancellor.

4. Did you know Taft put 3 creationists on the school board last month?
And that was after he promised that he would not politicize the appointments by explicitly appointing creationists.

...Including the district that Tom Sawyer won.

Evolutionists unhappy with Taft education appointees
Tuesday, December 12, 2006
Catherine Candisky

Evolutionists say Gov. Bob Taft went back on his promise to name only pro-science appointees to the State Board of Education.

The three appointees named last week by Taft all previously voted to support teaching intelligent design in science classes, said Patricia Princehouse, a biology professor at Case Western Reserve University.

Appointed to a second, four-year term were: Stephen M. Millett, of Columbus; Jennifer Sheets, of Pomeroy; and Carl Wick, of Centerville.

In a meeting with Dispatch editors this month, Taft said, "I want people who are really committed to teaching good science in school, and I think that intelligent design does not play a role in the science curriculum."

Taft spokesman Mark Rickel said yesterday that the governor asked each appointee whether they agreed with his position and all three indicated that they did.

In the board’s most recent vote on the matter this fall, all three supported stripping controversial language from state science standards, which critics said could allow the teaching of intelligent design or creationism.

Leave it to Tom Sawyer, and he'll find a way to work thru the issue (sideline it perhaps?). I will have to ask him what he thinks.

Insanity runs in the Taft family line, doesn't it?

8. Did you hear about Taft's housewarming?
He set a box of papers on his stove. The burner was on. Insanity? You bet.
