I voted on Friday, it took all of 10 minutes
(absentee of course)

A dem friend that served on the BOE mentioned that you can vote absentee right then and there.

So I went down to the BOE, filled out the absentee form (name, addr, driver's lic #), the lady
behind the counter checked my license and gave me a card for the touchscreen machine, the same
kind we used during the primary.

I was in and out of the voting booth in 10 minutes, about half a dozen people voted the same
time I did.

In case you were wondering :

- I voted for all the dems.

- Against both anti-smoking issues (sorry, former smoker here, I have watched smokers' rights
steadily erode for the last 14 years since the Clintons moved into the white house in 1992)

- For issue 3, I philosophically oppose casinos in Ohio, but I see no down side to having
slots at the race tracks ( gambling places to begin with ), bring them up to par or better
than those in neighboring states.

- For all 3 local school levies

- For the work comp amendment (dont really know what it was about)

- (I can't remember what else was on the ballot)

And I was done ! Woo Hoo !

I would encourage anyone who can, to vote early via absentee, especially if there is a history
of delays or long lines at your polling place.

I wonder why we haven't had this for all these years.

2. DRE and not a paper ballot?
Wow. I always got a paper ballot (via USPS, tho). So they have a machine right there in the BoE?

Well, some quick math is in order.
10 min to vote =
6 voters/hour
Polls open from 6:30am to 7:30pm
So, 13 hrs X 6 voters/hr = 78 voters per machine

Each precinct should have about 300-400 voters in it, BUT
Ohio law states only that precincts should have fewer than 1,400 registered voters.

By this math, each precinct in Ohio should have at least FIVE machines;
using the high end, each precinct should have EIGHTEEN machines!!!

iirc, during the 2004 election there was a FIVE MINUTE LIMIT to cast your vote,
so cut these numbers in half.

Just sayin'.... :patriot:

3. more details ...
some answers to your questions :

Yes, they had 5 touch screen voting machines in a polling room that had
a sign with something like - "Polling Location, No Cell Phones".

I meant 10 mins as figure of speech, in reality I may have taken 4 to 5 mins to vote.
The BOE lady did not specify a time limit to vote when I went in.

Your math seems reasonable, perhaps you should send a copy of it to clueless Vu. After
Blackwell, I blame Vu ( or is it Wu ? ) for the 2004 mess.
