“Gary Lankford, the former Ohio Republican Party staffer who was fired last week for sending an e-mail suggesting that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland and his wife are gay, is firing back.

Lankford sent another e-mail this week to "friends" and signed with his name as a "concerned Ohio citizen" complaining about press coverage of the incident.

'The truth is, the media is connecting Ted Strickland’s name with the words gay and sexual orientation and child molester over and over again,' Lankford wrote.

He also complained that The Dispatch and certain other Ohio newspapers failed to contact him for comment, even though the state GOP told reporters he would not comment.
