New Hampshire Voting...an update from one town.
Our town has a population of a little over 4,000. We arrived a little after 8 o'clock (opened at 8), and the line was running out the door and up the street, although it moved fairly quickly. We were in line for probably 45 minutes. There were three "observers" on the stage watching, one with a tag stating "Election Rights Lawyer." I was a little surprised about this observer since our town is not that big. Everyone in line seemed upbeat. We noticed one man (very young :() with a Bush sticker on his hat and one woman with a Kerry pin; both were allowed in and not asked to remove those from their person. We saw no challenges (or challengers for that matter); however, we had gone prepared with lots of ID proving we lived here just in case. There was quite a police presence with their cars on the street, blue lights on, and one officer at the exit door.

HAPPY VOTING!!

2. A second town
Hi All,
I vote in Hudson NH and usually it takes me about 5 minutes or less to vote. This morning at 7 there was a 2 mile backup to get the voting place and a line of people that I would guess to be over a hundred constantly. Everyone was in a good mood and the only comments were about how big the turn out was, I think that is a good sign. No hassles, but there were several voting obverses which was different. And of course count 1 for Kerry.

3. Derry

Voted in Derry. Got to the polls at 6:40AM (polls open at 7:00). I was about 250 - 300 feet from the main door to the field house entrance at the "high school". Looked behind me at 6:55, the line had grown to probably 1/2 mile (in total - and thats real WAG)...Once the doors opened, I was in and out in 15 minutes and off to work. Then the traffic hit down town all at once. In all not bad - just wish I had chose a different route to escape town.

I did see one person with a 2X3 * sticker on his jacket. I ignored him.

I did hear about one canidate breaking the distance rule up close and personal shaking hands with the people in line, and someone complained about it. I do not know what happened. The sad part was the had a (D) after his name on the ballot.

Wifely unit is there now. Told her to call if she has problems.

That is all

4. Nashua
Anecdotal evidence from Nashua suggests a very high turn out. Had to park a fair distance from the polling location. The line was out the door but things were moving along smoothly. Several first time voters were also coming in to register (this is allowed in NH).

5. Nashua Ward 3
Stood outside, holding signs. Turnout was very high; over 500 new registered voters by 4 PM, and there were still four hours to go! Many, many more Kerry/Lynch signs than Bush/Benson.
