OK, which way is Nelson going to go? Re: nuclear option
Ben has been giving mixed signals. He says he is for an up or down vote but obviously wants to avoid this controversy. I understand the dilemma but how can he possibly call himself a democrat and vote for this?

1. He needs to stand with the Democrats & we'll help him
in the next election. Get all your friends in Nebraska to call. I had a friend of mine call and the person was listening and took my friend's name, address, etc. So, I think that he has his finger in the wind.

The irony is that without our backing (the Democrats) he'll lose anyway, so he would be better off going home with them that broughts him!

2. I have called, faxed, emailed & written letters.
The fact that I have not received a single reply on this issue makes me nervous.

3. I only know one person in Nebraska
but she did call and called me back to report. She also said that she would go house to house and talk with neighbors. I sent her the information and talking points that we have been given by the various groups.

My friend's take was what I said earlier: That he is keeping track of the calls, etc. and that this will sway him.

I wonder at what point these democrats finally come to realize that playing patty-cake with the devil will not even get them a few marshmallow to roast in Hell. The best chance the Nelsons.Lieberman,s, etc, have is to stick with the party and keep our support.

The Republicans want real Republicans in those seats, not faux republicans.

4. I write him all the time
I used to receive replies even when I didn't agree with him, but I never get anything from him anymore.

5. It doesn't hurt to talk a good game
Nelson has everyone in Nebraska praising him for his efforts at compromise. He takes the legs out from any challenger, even though a compromise has no chance of going through. Nelson knows exactly what he's doing. He didn't get elected by being stupid.

6. How will Nelson vote? Just look at his record, he'll vote like he always
does. He'll side with Frist and the other republicans.

Nelson only runs as a democrat. He doesn't vote with or support democrats.
