Is anyone following the R's Governor primary in NE?
I strongly dislike Heineman and Nabity scares the bejezzus out of me. I really hope TO wins because I don't think he'll do anything crazy and I think he genuinely cares about Nebraska. Those other two genuinely care about corporations. What does anyone else think? And don't talk to me about the democrats. We all know whoever the R's nominate will be the next governor.

p.s. has anyone seen any polls on this? They keep trying to say Heineman is gaining ground but frankly I'd be surprised.

1. The best of three evils
You may be right that TO would do the least amount of damage, but I watched part of the debate the other night and Nabity gave the most straight forward answers. If Heineman wins I would be surprised. TO will probably take it because of his name recognition. I think he also mentioned that he would only serve one term.

Who is the Democratic candidate? I can't find any information. I find it really hard to believe that we can't find one good candidate. Talk about disheartening.

2. Nabity
One other thing about Nabity. He is against the laws that restrict where sex offenders live. I'm not trying to defend the criminal activities of sex offenders, but these new laws restricting where they live seems over the top.

(snip)
"We need to speak out against the registries and against the communities that ban sex offenders from living in their towns. This is one of the most prevalent forms of discrimination in our society. If you want to treat one set of criminal offenders a certain way then we should treat them all the same.

Where are the murderer registry lists? Or how about those that commit burglary, prostitution, drug use, drug dealing, drunk driving, etc? Why do we highlight a criminal activity that hurts society equal to or less than any number of other crimes? It is immoral and criminal as a society to do this.

It seems as if hysteria and paranoia have once again begun to take a grip on this country. We ought to be ashamed of ourselves for being no better than the criminals. We need to concentrate on helping these people rather than making them wear a “Scarlet Letter.”"

3. Well, I can almost agree with him on that point
but Nabity is log-cabin-in-Montana crazy. From what I've seen, he feels that no one should should pay taxes of any kind and we should basically have no government. I think people like him should quit their jobs and live in the sewer so that they can live out their lives happily not paying any taxes.

btw- I heard a while ago the Dems are running Ben Nelson's lieutenant governor (can't think of her name) who is probably not a good candidate but on the state democrats site it says they are running David Hahn, who is CEO of New Digital Group. I can't say how good of a candidate he is. I don't know anything about him.

6. I'm watching the Republican candidates debate on NET right now.
Any way you slice it the next gov will be pro life.

They're talking about the brain drain. Smart people do seem to flee this state in alarming numbers. Wonder if it has anything to do with the Republican stranglehold on politics?

8. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Rhetorical question. Downward spiral, any way you slice it. If Nabity gets elected, I must make every effort to flee as well. I did like Heinemann's & Osborne's stances on in-state tuition for children of immigrants.

I watched the segment on David Hahn and the I-want-casinos-in-Nebraska Dem candidate. I really like David and will be happy to vote for him in November. I truly wish it weren't an exercise in extreme futility.
